Dr. Mercantini graduated from the University of New Jersey Dental School in 1972. After graduation from dental school, he served as a commissioned officer in the US Public Health Service in the McLaughlin, South Dakota Dental Clinic where he provided dental care to the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. Dr. Mercantini moved to Virginia and started private practice in McLean, Virginia in July of 1974.
