Root Canal Therapy
Report
Because your tooth is a living part of your body, it contains nerves and requires blood circulation in order to remain healthy and strong. Non-surgical endodontic treatment is commonly known as root canal therapy. It is performed to save a tooth when its pulp - the tissue within the root of the tooth containing the tooth's nerves and blood supply - is diseased or damaged.
Endodontic Retreatment
Report
Sometimes new problems appear which compromise a tooth that has received successful root canal treatment. If new decay occurs, the root canal filling can be exposed to saliva and bacteria, creating a new infection within the tooth. The same can happen due to a loose or cracked filling or in the case of a fracture to the tooth itself.
Endodontic Surgery
Report
Diagnosis - When problems persist with a tooth, surgery will allow our doctors to examine the root in order to diagnose the problem and deliver the needed treatment. Canal obstructions - Surgery can allow treatment of a tooth which has received previous root canal therapy but cannot receive non-surgical retreatment due to canal obstructions.
Traumatic Injuries
Report
If you sustain an injury to the mouth, your tooth may be pushed into its socket or pushed partially out of the socket. Your dentist may be able to reposition and stabilize the tooth. If the tooth has been pushed into its socket, root canal treatment is usually begun within a few weeks of the injury.
