Pediatric Dentistry
Report
Since 1968, our team of Pediatric Dentists and experienced and friendly team have specialized in making all children and adolescents feel very comfortable at the dental office. Our board certified doctors have over 125 years of combined experience between them, are active members of the American and Michigan Dental Associations, American and Michigan Academies of Pediatric Dentistry, and several are boarded to provide hospital level dental care at DMC Children's hospital.
Dental Development
Report
Throughout your life and dental development, you will have two sets of teeth: primary (baby) teeth and secondary (permanent or adult) teeth. The primary teeth appear around ages 6-8 months, and all 20 are in place by age 3. The enamel constituting primary teeth is usually a bit different than that of adult teeth, making these teeth slightly whiter looking compared to adult teeth. They are very important teeth for speech and language development and also serve as a place holder for the future adult teeth.
Dental Emergencies
Report
Gently clean dirt or debris from the injured area with warm water. Place cold compresses on the face, in the area of the injured tooth, to minimize swelling. Contact our office immediately. Because we are concerned about your child's dental health, we have a dentist on call after hours seven days a week for true emergencies that need to be addressed immediately.
