Avoid rubbery, chewy candies such as gummy bears, fruit roll ups, sour worms, twizzlers, fruit chew snacks, even gummy vitamins. These candies may not have as much sugar as a piece of chocolate but their consistency is such that they tend to get stuck between the teeth, especially in the molar area.Over the years I have found a high correlation between young children (3, 4, 5 years old) who eat these type of candies and an increased amount of cavities between the teeth, aka "interproximal decay".
