My career began nearly three decades ago when I moved to Chicago after finishing dental school to begin a general practice residency at Ravenswood Hospital. The residency included advanced dental and emergency room training, but it also had a component with internal medicine rotations. This experience in particular gave me an appreciation for how dental health contributes to a person's overall health and well-being. When my residency was over, I stayed on as a staff dentist at the hospital for four years.
