There is no dental school that teaches "holistic dentistry". You could substitute the words biological, integrative, whole person, wellness, and longevity and they could all fit. To us, holistic means taking a broader perspective, and knowing your patient and what they want. At Seattle Dental Care, our holistic dentist ensures to provide each of our patients with a positive and relaxing experience.
Our practice uses the extreme advanced Laser, Waterlase MD Turbo, which only a few thousand dentists worldwide have available for their patients. This is the best laser in the world to treat gums and soft tissue problems, as well as an extremely effective way of treating cavities. 
Recent research has shown just how periodontal disease is affecting overall systemic health. Where we used to die from infections caused by communicable diseases, we are now usually dying from chronic inflammatory diseases. Periodontal disease is associated with such inflammatory diseases as heart disease, vascular disease, strokes, diabetes, and some forms of cancer are even related to chronic inflammation. Periodontal disease is also associated with low birth weight in babies, and osteoporosis. 
Virtually every procedure we do in our dental office involves cosmetic dentistry. We have a virtually metal-free practice. The dental materials we have available are incredible. Health is our primary concern and part of health is looking good. Our appearance affects how we feel about ourselves. Cosmetic dentistry engenders feelings of well being and confidence which in tum affects our health. Most procedures we do are done to look good and last a long time.

I had wonderful experience with Dr. Ciao and his hygienist. Very gentle, thorough, and most of all genuinely caring. We had some bad news which is that some of my old root canals have to go because they are infected, but good news is we found the source of my chronic illness and I am looking forward to regaining my health under Dr. Ciaos care. I waited several weeks to see Biological Dentistry and its definitely worth the wait.

Ive been with Dr. Cziao and his team for many years now. Theyve been always caring and professional. When my veneer broke in half, I was under extreme stress from the sensitivity and a public appearance within few days. As someone living with Hashimotos, Im very cautious about anything that is introduced to my body, especially my mouth. As soon as I discovered that there are toxins inside dental materials (possibly inside my mouth), I began my search for a good biological dentist. Because of my multiple chemical sensitivities, I stayed away from the dentist for years. This was the first place where I felt comfortable. The welcoming staff, calm music, and even their warm tea made a difference in my first visit which helped me feel confident in the following appointments. They removed an infected tooth that had been impacting my health, cleared out a significant infection, and eventually placed a ceramic implant that my body accepted smoothly. It's hard to believe that I went through these treatments without needing to be put under sleep.

Ive struggled with gum disease for years and kept needing deep cleanings every couple years on top of my routine cleaning every 3 months. My gut told me there had to be a better way. After meeting Dr. Cziao, he explained how bacteria affect overall health and suggested starting with a routine cleaning and laser therapy. His hygienist checked my mouth biome and saliva pH, then gave me a home protocol to follow until my next appointment. Ten weeks later, my gums improved and started looking healthier without the need of another deep cleaning.

This is definitely the place for anyone serious about proper dental care and oral health. They addressed all of my concerns and where able to provide me with confirmation that I had an on going infection of the jaw. Wonderful service and attention to detail. Hands down the most comfortable and professional dental experience I've had in my life. I've been going here for the last few years and they were the first to directly address the current bacteria level in my mouth and provide manageable steps to mitigate it. My only wish is that they would accept more insurance policies but it's worth it regardless.

Best dentists I have ever seen. The dentists and office staff are helpful, listened, and helped address my concerns and problems in a holistic way. I was able to heal from periodontitis without more invasive procedures. A bonus are the gorgeous views of Elliot Bay and the Olympic Mountains from the office and treatment rooms.

When I first brought my daughter in, her teeth were bad and we were told that she needed to be under for any procedures. Dr. Ciao explained my daughter's treatment patiently, respected her, and took one step at a time to regain her trust. Dr. Stickney saved my oral health. Hands down the best dentist I have ever been to in my 52 years. He treats your teeth as living tissue, choosing the least invasive approach to repair and the most holistic route to recovery, including ozone treatment to mitigate harmful bacterial growth that can cause issues down the line. Had my visit with Dr. Cziao. I have never had such gentle experience before. Dental visit to me has always been uncomfortable because of the pain and the sound. Well, there is not much I can do with the sound of drill. But what an amazement of the skillset this doctor has! He was gentle and informative. I found this clinic for my spouse, who suffers from dental anxiety. When we first stepped in, staffs were welcoming, and friendly. Most of all, I actually heard my partner asking the doctor questions and heard them laughing too. While my partner was getting cared, I was offered water and tea, and sat in their waiting room glazing out at the spectacular view of the water.

His office is above World Market, near Pike Place Market, with free parking below He was referred to me by a Holistic MD, about 15 years ago, soon after I arrived in Seattle. He is a Holistic Dentist, always learning and staying on top of new developments. I have been living with Chronic Illness for decades.

I love the overall healing vibe in a dentist office of all places! I find that all my questions are answered and then some and that Dr. Stickney and his team truly care about the oral health of each patient. Annika is bare none the best dental hygienist in the field I have come across! I have never had such as thorough cleaning! And the deeper scaling work she did was up and over what most would do.

I've been a patient of Dr. Stickney's for over 16 years and with every new checkup I'm glad he's my dentist. Any potential problems are caught and remedied before my teeth are damaged. Plus he always takes great care to preserve my teeth and uses the least invasive procedures possible. I went to an oral surgeon for some extractions then some follow up due to extreme pain and discomfort. After weeks of this I tried Dr Stickney based on a friend's referral, wow what a great idea that turned out to be! He and his staff were the only ones able to alleviate the pain and get me back to healing. This was all done without meds, which my previous doctors had just kept prescribing.
In fact here, they used LASERS! Thank you technology. Also the bedside manner of the doctor and his assistants was 2nd to none. I will go back for any dental concern to get this stellar care again, truly a standout in this day of doctors pushing drugs or not caring about their patients.

First visit went very well. Hygienist Annika was a delight, explained everything very well and was very personable. Everyone I met in the office was really nice and helpful. Didn't have much time with Dr. Stickney (which is a good thing- no cavities or other issues) but he made a solid first impression. Will be returning for subsequent visits. Bonus: view of Elliot Bay from the patient chairs was worth a dentist visit!

After receiving some poor dental work in Los Angeles, I was left with debilitating pain in three teeth. When I sought to get the situation corrected by another dentist, I was told I would need root canals in all the teeth that the Los Angeles dentist had worked on. Fortunately I found Dr. Stickney. Dr. Stickney carefully replaced the fillings in all of my affected teeth.
He used holistic methods to heal and clean the area and took his time to do the job right. The pain was significantly reduced immediately. Within two weeks I was pain free for the first time in over a month, and able to eat again. I would highly recommend Dr. Stickney, his methods, and his staff. It doesn't hurt that the office has such a beautiful view, too!
