Dr. Thomas Williams comes from a family of committed dental professionals. A 1977 graduate of Georgetown University School of Dentistry, Dr. Williams began private practice in Northwest Washington with his father, the late Dr. Ernest V. Williams. He served as a clinical instructor at Georgetown University for nine years while he established a private practice at his current location.
To provide our patients with the very best dental care possible by a committed and knowledgeable team within a pleasant professional atmosphere. Dr. Williams has developed a dental care environment that creates a positive experience for patients at every visit. Our team members share equally in that philosophy of commitment and are dedicated to the comfort and good health of our patients.
Prevention is the best way to avoid both time in treatment and costly procedures in the future. Continuing care visits help maintain a healthy mouth and detect vulnerable areas. Our goal is to make your smile look as good as it feels, always. Occlusal adjustment This is the correction of your bite to balance and evenly distribute the biting and chewing forces of your teeth.
Various factors can strain the temporomandibular jaw joint and the surrounding muscles. The strain can lead to facial discomfort, jaw popping, grinding of teeth and severe headaches. If you experience symptoms associated with jaw joint misalignment, Dr. Williams will develop a treatment program to relieve your discomfort and alleviate problem areas based upon your individual needs.

The staff and the hygienists are lovely. Very efficiently run practice, but don't use Thomas Williams as a dentist unless you want to hear his political views while your mouth is being worked on. Very inappropriate. Also this is the only practice where I was consistently under medicated for major dental work.

Incredibly thorough and explained his rationale for treatment throughout the appointment.

I think this practice is thorough and competent. On my first visit, I got a good cleaning and examination. The dentist recommended that I get a lot of things done, however, without indicating which things were critical and which were optional, making me question how much I could trust his recommendations. He also recommended an aggressive treatment for one issue, which I thought might be unnecessary (and involved removing more than was needed).

I ended up trying another practice instead (Dr. Wolcott in Maryland) who I am very happy with, and was in favor of a much more conservative approach to dental work. On an administrative note, this office is closed on Mondays and Fridays, although their website does not reflect this and they have a phone answering message on 24/7 that says that the office is currently open!

This caused a problem with me getting the records that I needed from the office in a timely way. On a side note, Dr. Williams has an unusual approach to new patients. He conducts an extended interview where he asks many personal questions (siblings? previous schooling? etc. etc.). The aim, I was told, was to help him build candor. However, it felt intrusive and somewhat performative.

The office staff is terrible. They double-billed my insurance company Cigna and me, received payment from both of us, and refused to reimburse me for 8 months. They didn't respond to emails, and if I didn't call every day and have my insurance company call on my behalf for months on end, Dr. Williams' office would have just kept both payments. Even after 8 months and to add insult to injury, they took out $36 of the refund for a check fee! Ridiculously petty!

They lose points for bad office management and billing. While waiting for FEP Blue Dental to pay, they billed me. I spent quite a bit of time back and forth between them and the insurance. They are not responsible for FEP Blue Dental, but when I talked to them on the phone, we agreed that we expected a check from the insurance this week from my insurance--Blue Dental had assured them it was on the way and they themselves had submitted it and were familiar with Blue Dental. Dentist office told me they would hold my check, and when the insurance check arrived they would tear mine up and call me or mail it back to me.

Instead they cashed it immediately. OK, so they forgot. Or someone else did it. I understand. But they just seem so addled and NOT ABLE TO REMEMBER OR TRACK THINGS from one day to the next, in general, that I will never get that money back from them. And I can't get it from Blue Dental, of course. Thomas P Williams Office gets paid twice. And as far as I'm concerned they are both fired--FEP Blue Dental and Thomas P Williams DDS.

The absolute worst experience with a dentist I have ever had. I have never had any cosmetic work (or braces, etc.) as I have never needed it except for a small bonding on a front tooth that was done 13 years ago. It was never a noticeable bond. When I went to Dr. Williams for a cleaning, he suggested that I have that bond redone. On his first attempt, he mismatched the color and I had to return.

During the second attempt, he drilled down my tooth so much that it is now noticeably shorter than my other teeth. I am now in constant pain. Since, I have visited other dentists who estimate my best plan of action to remedy the problem would be veneers, an expensive and dramatic procedure. Do not patronize this practice.
