Services
Some patients develop a "dry socket." A dry socket is an inflammation of the bone which causes a dull throbbing pain and is not relieved by normal pain medication. Please contact us immediately if you suspect this condition. A dry socket can be easily treated in the office. There will be a space where the tooth was removed.
If you take medications in the morning on a regular basis, please take these medications with a small sip of water unless you have been instructed otherwise. You will need a responsible adult to accompany you to the appointment, drive you home after the procedure and care for you at home. We recommend stocking up on cold, soft items for the day of surgery such as pudding, ice cream, yogurt, applesauce and Jell-O. You may also want to stock up on warm, soft items for the day after surgery such as soups, pastas, potatoes, and oatmeal.

I brought my daughter here to have her wisdom teeth removed. Dr. Widner was absolutely fabulous! They took extraordinary care of her. No bruising, moderate swelling and she only took Advil for the pain. I wish I knew about him sooner, I would have brought my other daughters to him. Big shout out to the staff, they are also amazing! Thanks to all of you for turning a scary procedure into a positive experience.

My wisdom teeth taken out and had a great experience. The staff were super friendly and made the process so easy! I really appreciated the kindness from the staff members and everyone had a smiling face every time I went there! They even asked what type of music I enjoyed during the extraction process.

As an experienced RN I was highly disappointed by my experience at Dr. Widner's office. There was a gross lack of communication. His office asked for my CT scan from my initial ER visit. I could not provide this information at the time of my consult. The next day, the ER was able to provide the scan with the written findings of a radiologist. I noticed that the findings were different than the diagnosis made by Dr. Widner.

In light of the discrepancy, I called his office immediately to provide this information. I was directed to email the scan and my concerns. My purpose was to ensure that Dr. Widner had all the information necessary and that the findings from the ER scan did not alter his recommended surgical intervention. I had additional questions that were not addressed in my initial consultation with him, all of which were important to finalizing my decision to undergo the procedure he was recommending.

I never got a reply and had to call his office for follow-up multiple times. When I was finally contacted by his assistant, her response was that she would check with Dr. Widner. She told me that Dr. Widner was not going to take the findings of another doctor and that I was now outside the window for any treatment anyway. I asked if I could schedule a follow up to ensure my jaw fracture was healing properly.

The response was, "Sure, let me check to see when he wants to see you again and I'll call you back." I never got a call back. Upon requesting a copy of my medical records for purposes of a second opinion, I was told they can take up to 2 weeks to provide the information, with an additional charge. When I arrived at his office to pick my records in person at the scheduled time, nobody knew where my records were.

Come to find, nobody followed through on making the copies or disc. Once I finally got the records in hand, the notes on my medical record were not accurate. In summation, the thorough explanation of the procedure, risks, benefits were not provided. Also, due to the poor response time to my questions and concerns, Dr. Widner determined I would not be a candidate for the procedure in question. Needless to say, I am seeking a second opinion.

Dr. Widner and his staff provided excellent and professional service. I am so grateful that he accepted me as a new patient, and that he was able to quickly schedule me for a tooth removal and bone graft. Time was of the essence as I have recently moved here from out of state and had not been able to even get a general dentist appointment. Plus, I was in a lot of pain. Many thanks to you, Dr. Widner and to your assistant, Rae, who was so kind and calming through the entire procedure.

I am so grateful to be treated by Dr. Widner for my wisdom teeth surgery. It could not have been easier if it wasn't for Dr. Widner. By gods grace everything went according to the plan and the care that he took after the surgery was exceptional. He made sure that I was totally healed and then he taught me about how to care further. I highly recommend Dr. Widner for anyone who really want to get it done hassle free.

The staff was very helpful and was very knowledgeable and polite. They have answered every question I had. They also explained me clearly about pre op care and post op care which helped me heal faster.

I absolutely love Dr. Widner's work. I am so grateful for his professionalism and his lovely team who have been taking an amazing care of me. I had my TMJ surgery in January and am almost done with recovery. Dr. Widner is one of the very few professionals in Austin who can perform such complex and hugely important (plus helpful) surgeries. I am very happy with how I feel now and what a big difference this surgery has made in my life. Dr. Widner is absolutely the best!

This is a hard to write, but honest review! I have teeth issues, & I have moved around, so I have seen different dentists. This was for my 8th extraction. I saw DR Widner for my last extraction, and he did it so smoothly, like butter! I have referred several people to him, because he was so good. But the last extraction was $250. I understand inflation, but this time, they did all of the same procedures, and it was $641!

How do you come to that type of price change? I understand some procedures and things vary, but this one wasn't. Tooth came out nice & easily, but that was obsured pricing. How would you explain that?

Dr. Widner and his team are fantastic! From scheduling your first appointment to post op. I had all 4 of my wisdom and 2 supernumerary teeth removed by Dr. Widner and the recovery was surprisingly painless. I had scheduled my surgery for a Friday and they only had a 12:00pm appt, but I wanted to get it done in the morning. Sylvia made sure to follow up with me when someone else canceled their appointment and I was able to get my surgery in the morning.

The front desk lady is so friendly and everyone is very caring. They also followed up with me to ensure I was okay and following instructions. Thank you all for a wonderful experience!

DO NOT GO TO THIS PRACTICE. I went to this practice for a TMJ pain management procedure, they made me pay upfront with CC and said they did all the necessary steps to claim with insurance on the backend. I was contacted by insurance and they said the office did not get the proper precertifications needed to preform the procedure. When I called the billing department they said they didnt know why the office did submit the precetifications that their other offices usually do.

I am now out $1,600 because they did not do the proper steps and they REFUSE to give me a refund. I feel like they are scamming patients and just in it to make money and do not care about patients overall well being.

This place was wonderful! They got us in quick. My husband was in a lot of pain because of an abscessed wisdom tooth. Everyone was so wonderful and Dr. Alford was amazing! My husband said it was super quick and pain free. It was also very affordable. Dr. Alford even called that evening to check on my husband. We would highly recommend this place.

Loved this place! I went for a cavity that resulted in my tooth needing to get pulled and replaced, and I'm so glad I picked this place. Dr. Alford and Frank are so nice! They really take the time to make you feel comfortable and understand if you're nervous to go to the dentist. The facility is really clean, and the place is well decorated. Frank was awesome about talking to me and getting all the information needed before we did surgery.

I was nervous to be put under, but Dr. Alford and Frank understood and made it kind of fun bc they talk to you and let you get to listen to music! I loved this place, and when I woke up Nick helped my husband roll me out to the car! When I woke up, everyone was so nice and asked me how I was doing, which made me feel like I was with friends rather than a dentist office!

The ladies at the front desk were Carrie and Tonya and they are AWESOME! They helped me figure out a how to pay out of pocket, since I didn't have dental insurance, and they spent like an hour talking to me and my husband about payment plans! Everyone here really takes their time with you, and you never feel rushed! Honestly, it wasn't really that expensive! Also, Dr. Alford called us later in the day to make double sure I was feeling ok and what all I should do to recover! I've never had a dentist or a doctor personally call to double check on me, which mades you feel really special and like they really do actually CARE! I will definitely go back here again! :

The nurses were sweet and helped me ease my nerves, they were professional and handled everything with a positive attitude. Dr. Widner is a wonderful oral surgeon. The procedure was soo smooth I woke up with no problems at all. From the checking to the recovery room, the whole process was smooth and I felt very comfortable.
