Root canals
Report
Root canals Endodontic treatement, root canals, are usually thought of as the "worst" dental service you could need or as extremely painful - when in fact they can be as comfortable as getting a filling placed. Root canals get their bad rap from stories of those who have ignored a serious problem. Root canals when treated early before the infection is too bad are typically very comfortable. After the tooth is numbed the doctor creates a access hole in the tooth to reach the nerve chamber of the tooth. Following that the infected nerve tissue is removed with small instruments called "files, " after this is completed a rubbery material is used to fill the empty canal and the root canal is done. This procedure can often be done in one visit, but when the infection is more severe an additional step of medicating the infected nerve tissue may be needed, requiring two or three appointments before the nerve chamber is ready to be filled.
After the root canal is completed, the next step is to have a crown done on the tooth. A crown is required in this situation because the nerve of the tooth has been removed and this was the only means of blood supply to the tooth. Now the tooth will basically dry out and become brittle and thus very likely to break. To protect the tooth from this, a crown is placed to hold the tooth together. In our office, if the tooth getting a root canal does not already have a crown on it, we will typically perform both procedures simultaneously; this saves on the total number of visits and provides a temporary crown on the tooth immediately to help protect it during and immediately following the root canal procedure.
Bridges and Dentures
Report
Bridges and Dentures A bridge is similar to multiple crowns fused together except the tooth which is being replaced is a solid replica of that tooth it is replacing. In order to utilize repaired bridgework to replace a missing tooth or multiple missing teeth, it is necessary to have either healthy teeth to support the bridge or implants to provide support. Whether it is your natural teeth or one or more implants the bridge is connected to, once the bridge is cemented into place it will appear that you are not missing teeth and it will function just as your teeth once did. Our bridges are produced of porcelain fused to a noble metal or all porcelain, this gives us the ability to shade and shape the units of the bridge to match your remaining teeth or resemble the teeth you once had. Fixed bridges are also a longer term solution to replacing missing teeth and can last you 10 - 15 years before replacement may be necessary.
Cosmetic dentistry
Report
Cosmetic dentistry The term "cosmetic dentistry" invovles every dental service, which can be utilized to improve the appearance of your teeth and smile. In fact, many of the regular restorative services are delivered with just that in mind. The ever improving technology in dentistry has in many ways changed the way we now practice. Gone are the days of having to put up with an ugly filling or crown on front teeth or any teeth for that matter. It is possible in most cases to make dental fillings, crowns, and veneers that are almost indistinguishable from the existing natural teeth.

The possibilities in cosmetic dentistry are almost endless. Orthodontics, crowns, bridges, and fillings can be used separately or in harmony with each other to give you that winning smile you have always wanted.

Our purpose build a beautiful smile where the dental work is undetectable.

Our reward the smile our clients can't wipe off of their face when they get their cosmetic work completed.

For patients, cosmetic dentistry can offer a new lease on life! Many people find they become more confident and find themselves smiling a lot more than they ever did before.

Born in Vandalia, Illinois, Dr. Robert Seaman spent most of his childhood in Florisssant, Missouri. He got a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology from the University of Missouri - Columbia in 1976 then enrolled and graduated from the University of Missouri- Kansas City School of Dentistry, earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree in 1981. Dr. Seaman graduated with honors and was elected to Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society.

Immediately following graduation in 1981, Dr. Seaman opened the doors to his dental practice. While he was building his practice, he was also an assistant Professor of Clinical Dentistry at UMKC Dental School, teaching in the Crown and Bridge Department from 1981 to 1990.

Dr. Seaman enjoys all aspects of general dentistry, with a special interest in crowns, bridges, and other cosmetic related dentistry. He feels this is an artistic outlet for him..... creating smiles. He continually enhances his education with new and better procedures in crown and bridge, endodontics (root canals), orthodontics and TMJ (jaw alignment) treatment to better serve all of his patients. "It has always been my goal to provide as many services as possible to my patients, so they would not have to be referred all over town for dental care," he explained, "while there is a time to involve a specialist, most of a patient's needs can and should be provided by their family dentist - so this is what I have done through the years." As a result, Dr. Bob and his center offer routine preventive and diagnostic services, periodontal (gum disease) care, fillings, crowns, fixed bridgework, removable dentures, fixed dentures, porcelain veneers, in-office and at-home whitening services, root canals, emergency care, bonding, non-surgical treatment for TMD (TMJ) conditions, restorations over implants, and even orthodontics; including appliance therapies, full braces (in metal and porcelain), and invisible (aligner therapy) braces.

Besides all he does to improve his patients' dental experiences, Dr. Bob also has a large family to keep him busy. He and his wife have 6 children and 2 grandchildren, which is one of the reasons he knows how busy families can be and why it is so important to him to maintain an office schedule which is accommodating to both professionals and families.

Outside of the dental office, Dr. Bob is also an avid woodworker and got his Master Woodworker certification at Marc Adams School of Woodworking a couple of years ago. Dr. Bob not only builds beautiful furniture and accents for his home and kids , he also brings his talents into the office, where he is currently renovating the office cabinetry himself.

I was having tooth pain. I had called other dentists and could not get me in until weeks later and pretty much told me to take tylenol for my pain. I called Dr Seaman Family Dentistry and i was in the same day! They explained to me what i needed done and explained every procedure they did, answered all questions i had. I had a root canal done. The staff was super nice, always asked how im doing during each procedure. Dr and his staff are amazing!

I have found a new Dentist and i highly recommend this Dentist 100%! Thank you for taking care of me and caring about my tooth pain. You and your staff are caring people and i look at that when im choosing a Dr. I can see you care about your patients.

Felt very rushed to make decions without knowing all choices.no staff really gave me any information on what to do or not do when you go home or give u a timeline of when to return if needed. Dentist and staff were very friendly and respectful to customers and each other. I was in no pain when getting dental work done and never in the office a very long time.

I broke my tooth last night and they were the only office that said they have a 24/7 dental service. They have a number to text/call and you're supposed to get a response within 30 minutes, and after that 30 minutes if you don't hear back they ask that you repeat the text/call because sometimes the phone lags a bit and it doesn't go straight through which I did because I had to use the after hours emergency line. Texted, no answer. Repeated, still no answer.

I figured okay, if it goes directly to the dentist maybe something came up, totally fine. It's been 14 hours and I still haven't heard back, even though their office has been open for 3-4 hours now. I can't speak on their normal office visits and staff, but if you have an emergency you're better off waiting until the morning and calling your own dentist than getting your hopes up.

Highly recommend this dental office! My awesome care started before I even stepped foot into the dental office. I went online to find a dental professional that could help me with my progressively very painful tooth ache. It would not stop throbbing (No sleep for 2 nights). I came across the Seaman Family Dental website and got access to Dr. Seaman's emergency text line. Dr. Seaman was able to recommend a instant temporary solution to my pain until I was able to get to the dental office.

The following day at my appointment the very professional staff took care of me so good. Nyle - at the front desk, Molly - my dental hygienist (OMG), Taylor - Awesome for handling my insurance stuff. Even the other nice young lady hygienist that recommended the Water Pick Flosser. You all took care of me so well. Finally Dr. Seaman, I am so blessed that I was able to get access to a professional like you on such short notice. I am a patient / customer for life. (10) Stars

My experience has been very disappointing. I had a filling fall out and visited this dental office to have it replaced. After several days of issues I went back in but the issues never subsided. Never did I think I'd experience two months of pain and discomfort. (I had next to no pain before my visit, but had noticed the missing piece and wanted to get it taken care of.) If I weren't out of the country I would visit another dental practice in KC to have it replaced.

Until then I'm left with biting into things with one side of my mouth and what's likely to be an expensive visit in my future. I did have a dentist here in Mexico just look at the bite and he did some correcting which has been helpful but hasn't solved the main issue, whatever that may be. I reached out to Seaman Family Dental via phone, the day before I left the country, in tears.

The girl said she'd ask the dentist about my symptoms and call me back but no one called. I also emailed last week and didn't receive any response. To credit those that were helpful- I've always thought the dental hygienists were terrific, the techs very kind, and I did appreciate Stacy who was very willing to help me when I called for what would have been my third visit to have this filling corrected, had it not been the night before my international trip.

Simply put - I don't think my filling was done with the care and attention it deserved, especially since no X-ray was even taken. Unfortunately, I'll have to take my business elsewhere and hope that my tooth hasn't endured too much trauma from the experience. I worked in healthcare for over 10 years. Simply not responding to a patient is unprofessional and shows a lack of concern.

I have been going to Dr. Seaman about 4 years now. His staff is very friendly and helpful. I like how they can always try to fit you on the schedule when you have a dental emergency. I was really nervous about getting a root canal, but Molly and Dr. Seaman put me at ease and the procedure wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

Came here to get a crown and a cleaning recently. The staff is astoundingly friendly and they truly care about their patients' dental health. The dentist really cares about the quality of his work and it shows. Not only did my crown turn out perfect, but the entire procedure was painless. They provided by far the best dental experience I've ever had, and I'll be coming here for all of my dental work from now on.

This is now my dental home! The staff is absolutely fantastic. I have quite a bit of dental anxiety and they opened their arms and welcomed me with ease, comfort, and did everything possible to ensure that I was okay and felt comfortable. I normally visit Chelsey and she is GREAT! I cannot say enough good things about this office and if you struggle visiting the dentist, you will not feel that way here.

This dental practice is pretty incredible. I've had a few bad experiences in the past, so 2 years ago when I started coming here I was a little skittish. Dr Seaman is expertly skilled and every hygienist/assistant who has worked on me has done a great job. Sidney did my cleaning today and had the best technique and personality I've experienced in the dental chair! Worth switching to this office just for her, in my opinion. The place is very clean and runs so efficiently.

This was my first visit to Dr Seaman's office. The staff was nice and professional. Madison was my hygienist - she was very nice, and made sure I was comfortable and aware of everything she was doing the entire time. One thing I appreciated, was when asked if I wanted a fluoride treatment they were sure to check if my insurance covered it or not. I liked Dr Seaman as well, he was informative and nice. I will be returning when it's time for my next cleaning!

I would highly recommend Seaman Family Dentistry. I've been coming here since sometime in the early 80's and have never had a bad experience with either the Dr. or his staff. Easy to set and change appointments too.

I have had a considerable amount of work done in this office over the last 3 years. The work has always been done right the first time. I hear nothing but nightmares from my coworkers concerning repeat root canals and incorrectly fitted crowns from other dental office which makes me even more thankful I found this place. I have never had to wait to be seen.

My husband was in excruciating pain due to a broken tooth. Of course, it was Saturday. And of course, it was also labor day. Ugh. No-one was going to be open or able to get him in until at least Tuesday and that would have only been on a miracle. Until I called Dr. Seaman. He called in scripts after hours and even came in on labor day just to help my husband. This office might be a bit of a drive for us but we will ONLY be going here from now on!!! I highly recommend this place!!!

Dr. Seaman and his staff were all very friendly!!! I had to take my 3 year old with me today and they were all very kind and patient with her as well. I live about an hour south of the office, but I will be driving to them for all of my dental needs!
