The worst dentist when it comes to ethics, billing and skills; remarkably poor self control and bedside manners

While on vacation in Seattle a cap fell off my tooth. Fortunately I was able to save it. I was walking through the marketplace I looked up and saw the sign for the dentist. This was my lucky day after making a call I was able to see him shortly. What a great experience, one of the best dental experiences of my life. Very kind and caring and took his time to be sure I was comfortable with everything he was doing. The staff was wonderful

Pike Place Dental has continuously provided great care for me over the last two years. From the moment you walk in and are greeted by the front desk, through the cleaning and health check, the level of service is extremely high.

I love this place and everyone here. Dr. de Vigne is incredibly nice & has such fun stories to tell if you're lucky! The holistic options are a real relief to have available, folks here are great at explaining if you have any questions, & though it doesn't relate directly to the teeth, it's worth mentioning that the office and location is gorgeous, too.

I was a patient here for a few years, and the entire experience was bizarre. This dentist is only out to make money, he does procedures on every tooth in your mouth just to bill you, and then starts over again. His staff is in on this ridiculousness, and I would get "urgent" calls that I needed to come in for a cleaning, or I was in danger of developing gum disease.

I floss every day of my life, and have for over twenty years. The front desk people were not consistent, and the charges really depended on who was doing the billing for the day. Awful, awful place, I want to give it zero stars. Save your money and sanity, go anywhere else!

It was a wonderful renew experience for me to see a Dentist once again. Starting from entering the clinic Boston is a friendly and nice and gave me all the upfront information I needed. Dr. De Vinge on the other hand made me feel relax and at home. He reviewed all necessary information and shared to me detailed after care onces the procedure was done. Pike Place Dental is one of a kind clinic. ~ Mai

Everything about my experience at Pike Place Dental, Seattle was a 10 out of 10. Boston the Administrator was my first impression with the clinic and they were intelligent, professional, thorough, and kind. Boston made scheduling, finding, and arriving to the clinic a breeze. They answered all my questions, worked quickly to find my insurance eligibility, and even had my medical records request complete in just a day.

I can tell from how detail-oriented Boston is, that they are of great value to this team. Botson is the kind of person you hope to encounter in the health field! The Dental Assistant Tina was very warm and kind. Tina worked well in combination with Dr. Vignet- a great team! I felt that Tina was also very thorough and efficient. Tina was well prepared for my visit, had everything ready to go, and my clinic space was very clean.

I noticed that Tina was also great at changing out gloves (which is a concern during Covid)- thank you! Finally, Dr. Kent de Vignet was amazing. To be honest, I had a better and more thorough experience with him than I've had with many other health care providers, overall. I was shocked and impressed at his level of attention and care. My first appointment was very long- which I appreciated because it meant they are really doing the work and getting a thorough history. Dr. Vignet was very kind, gentle, and communicative.

I did not feel any hesitations about his capabilities, and I felt he was extremely knowledgeable. I'm going back for a follow-up soon and I'm so happy I found this place. If you're looking for a new clinic or haven't gone in years and want to re-commit to your dental health, I highly recommend PPD! Oh and I should mention that it's IN Pike's Place Market so the views are pretty nice : ) Thanks Pike Place Dental!

In my experience with dentists, he was the first one to actually do the intake, take the assessments, hear from the patient what their expectations are, etc. I found that very respectable and he had good bedside manner. The office was neat had great views of Pike Place, and watching people made for excellent distraction while Dr. De Vigne was taking a look at everything.

One thing I did not appreciate, leaving it at a 4/5 is how they break down the dental visits into 2. Something I feel they might be doing due to insurance purposes. I have NEVER had it where the dentist separates the initial appointment and the cleaning in to 2 separate appointments. Is there a reason that I am not getting? It seemed like a way to get more money from insurance maybe.

Who knows. There doesn't seem to be a regular dental hygienist, which is startling to me. Dr. De Vigne is the one that has done my annual cleaning twice now. I really do appreciate their communicative efforts when it come to the actual experience with dentist appointments, but I think I'm gonna find somewhere closer to home.

I recently moved and needed a new dental office. I decided to go here and I had the best dental experience- probably ever. Everyone working was extremely kind. Their number one priority is making sure their patients are receiving the care they want and make the appointment personalized to your needs. I couldn't have asked for better.

I absolutely love going to see Dr. DeVigne. He is always kind, patient, and caring. He pulled my wisdom teeth, and I had a really great recovery with almost no pain or discomfort.

What an excellent holistic dental practice located in historic Pike Place! Dr. Kent and staff are very wonderful to work with, starting from when booking your appointment with Austin. Clean and comfortable office with great views of the bustling market down below. I really appreciated the 1:1 personalized care and service (and not having to wait for the Dr. to shuffle back and forth between patients). Dr. Kent and his staff were patient, kind, and took their time to understand your needs and expectations. I highly recommend giving Dr. Kent and office a try!

I do not understand why anyone would give Dr D and staff a bad review. Helpful, thoughtful, honest, and on top of the insurance ins and outs. I trust them.

I spent decades being petrified of going to the dentist. It started with someone scaring the bejeezus out of me when I was a kid. Here, it's completely okay to talk about how I need to be treated. In the beginning, I needed nitrous oxide for everything. Now, I don't need to worry about it. I give this office full credit for getting me to that point.

It took more than two years to get everything fixed. Dr DeVigne even found oral surgeons who were great with skittish patients like me for the more extensive work that I needed. Tips for patients: give yourself PLENTY of time to get there during tourist season. This business is right above the fish-throwers in the Market: people will be everywhere, blocking your way if you're driving and slowing you down when you're walking to the office. Don't under-estimate this.

So I went in on 5/29/15 because I was hoping this dentist could help me with TMJ. I recently had a dental insurance change and my long time dentist is not in the network. I needed a dentist who was in network, could work with TMJ and was near the office. BOY, did I ever make a mistake here. After charting my teeth and taking x-rays Dr. De Vigne informed me that it appears that I have one of the forms of bone cancer in my left mandible! Yeah, BONE CANCER!

Naturally I freaked out inside and phoned my MD after I left. I received an appointment with my MD the following Monday morning to discuss. I also phoned my out of network dentist who had just done a cleaning and full x-rays in March of 2015. Both my MD and my long time dentist were dumbfounded as to how I could possibly have Jaw Cancer! Dr. De Vigne's office emailed me the three x-ray's they took yesterday and I sent them to my other dentist as well as my MD.

My other dentist phoned me within the hour and he was totally pissed off with Dr. De Vigne's suggestion that I have cancer. He stated that there is no sign of cancer in the x-ray's that I sent him. He said that what he did notice was that they obviously put my head into the machine at an angle (which the machine is not designed for) which causes my tissue to show up over the bone as black areas. Namely, my salivary glands.

My longtime dentist has the exact same machine in his office and knows how to use it much better. He also used it on me in March (2 months ago) and pulled up his images and confirmed that I have NO bone cancer whatsoever! This experience has been extremely traumatic for me and my family. We spent the whole weekend pre-arranging funds from family accounts to fight cancer.

My mother was upset beyond belief and me at age 35 was totally bewildered by this news. When you see a medical professional you expect them to not only know what they are talking about but you also expect them to know how to use the equipment and tools in their office. You don't expect to walk in with TMJD and walk out with bone cancer. Not only has this experience caused me and my family grief and anxiety but it also cost me additional expenses with my MD.

I am very unhappy with Pike Place Dental and Dr. De Vigne and highly suggest thinking twice before you visit his office. I personally plan to continue to see my long time dentist on an out of network basis. For me he is worth the money and he keeps my blood pressure down!

It really amazes me how people have bad experiences here: PPD is hands-down the best dental experience I have had, ever! Overall, Dr. D and his entire staff have made my dental experiences seamless, painless, and borderline pleasurable even. Mike helped me waltz through my periodontal disease, and into great oral health. Dr. D and his assistant (Oleg?) have literally removed my fear of drilling.

I chose local anesthetic only for my crown and several fillings: not only was the drilling process straightforward, but not once have I experienced anything but minor, dull soreness in recovery. TOTAL professionalism, right down to the Doctor personally calling to check in after every visit. That's the meat & potatoes. The gravy: -clean, so clean! -all the needed equipment, but very much holistic -lots of well-maintained greenery all around -classic location on Pike Place, in a well-maintained 150 year old building -mirrors angled such above your dental chair so you can look out over the market as you get drilled -attentive staff so a relative uncomfortable experience is made easy Thank you PPD and Dr. D for a great return to oral health!

Of course your results may vary, but I've been going to pike place dental off and on (two year hiatus for grad school out of state) since 2008, and in that time I've had nothing but good experiences. The office is cool (historic market building) the staff are friendly and competent, I feel like they actually care about my oral health, and at least in my case, they have always been very conscious about my costs!

I do not recommend going to Pike Place Dental. I became a patient here last year (2013) after my longtime dentist retired. I had several fillings replaced. On one occasion, he hit a nerve when he was giving me anesthetic. My face was swollen for days, with visible bruising that didn't go away for over a week. It looked worse than when I got my wisdom teeth out as a teenager.

I should also mention that the Dr. DeVigne doesn't have the best. bedside manner? Would that be the right term for a dentist? I told him that I flossed once a day and got a big lecture about how I needed to be doing it three times a day. I really don't like someone saying to me "well, if you don't care about your health." when I'm obviously trying. Also: It may be complete coincidence, but In the six months between my check ups two out of three staff members left.

At first the service was pretty good but then it all went downhill. They have people that are doing an interview for positions doing actual cleanings on your teeth. The front office makes billing errors, and spelling errors which I know we all make mistakes but more then a few times there have been mistakes. You can find better quality dentists in Seattle.

The staff & Kent at Pike Place Dental are friendly enough, but they are clearly in the business of making money over taking care of your teeth. I went in for my first 6-month check-up with PPD (I have never missed a check-up) and they found 16 cavities. Sixteen! The only reason I tried to switch to PPD was because I needed an office that was open on Fridays.

I returned to my regular dentist the following week and after x-rays and a complete check-up she found a single cavity in need of attention. If I would not have gotten that second opinion I would have built another wing onto Kent's house via my insurance payments. I am SO glad I didn't stick around!

This has been one of the worst experiences i've ever had! If you like pain you have found the right dentist. I have never had brusis from the dentist. It took them almost 3 months to finish putting on a crown. To fix the cavities that they said I had, my face ended up being swollen for 3 days. Once the swelling went down I has a huge bruise on the outside of my cheeck.

I then had to return to get a crown. First was the temporary. I was there for 3 hours and couldn't go to work b/c I couldn't move my jaw. The days to come were the worst pay I've ever had. It has been over 2 weeks and I still could not open my jaw fully. On top of all that, the temporary was too big and caused my jaw to sit crooked for a week until they could shave it down a little.which caused the tempoary to wear down and expose the sealant to come through.

I had no choice but to finish getting my permanent crown in. which ended up being ok, minus the giant blood clot on the inside of my mouth where they hit a nerve with the novocain. everyone was really nice and polite, but that doesn't cancel out the shotty work and pain i went though.

Stay away from this place. I was extremely excited about going to a holistic dentist. He seemed friendly enough. But when it came down to his practice things went wrong quickly. First of all, their technology is stuck back in the 80's. which is really far back for technology. I went here to get a routine check-up and they told me that I needed x-rays because my previous dentist didn't supply them with all the ones they needed.

I had to pay out of pocket for new x-rays that turned out horribly and have not been able to receive them all back since my ordeal. After reviewing the x-rays the dentist proceeded to tell me that from the x-rays he could see that I had 14 cavities. yes 14 cavities! outrageous! I am a patient who has had routine cleanings every 6 months my entire life, has had dental surgery, braces etc.

I take care of my teeth. So for someone to tell me that I have 14 cavities, I was in complete shock! I had them send my x-rays immediately to my previous dentist (whom I only had to leave due to location) to have them take a look. They responded quickly telling me that from the x-rays there was no sign of any cavities at all. Of course I don't trust Pike Place Dental anymore.

I went to a new dentist for a routine check-up and was told the exact same thing. no cavities at all. Pike Place Dental was trying to steal money from me, plain and simple. Seriously, Stay Away!

I'm very happy with the natural dentistry and kind providers at Pike Place Dental. Everyone is very polite, sweet and they check in with me whenever they change tasks. I've been going here for several years and have no plans of switching away any time soon.

I've had dental work done across the country, braces, headgear, retainers, fillings, root canals, even full blown surgeries. These guys are the best I've had. Hands down. They use natural materials where possible and safe synthetcs where nesc. They're in and out of your mouth without fumble or painful pokes or pinches. In short, if you need a Dentist this is the one that I'll be flying home to see from where ever I live in the future, good dentists are everywhere, GREAT dentists are extremely hard to find. You found this one, don't bother looking any further. They're awesome.

I like having nice teeth, and I love the staff of Pike Place Dental and Dr. Kent de Vigne (pronounced vin-yee). Located in the Market, they have served the Market community for years with gentle, holistic dentistry. I trust Pike Place Market Dental and refer my friends to them regularly. They are completely focused on their clients. The dental hygeniest is sweet and very gentle--I never leave with ripped up gums. Dr. de Vigne is kind and very conservative in his dentistry.

Some dentists should have the motto: "Drill Baby Drill." Dr. de Vigne has never suggested work I didn't need. I actually don't fear the dentist anymore because of Pike Place Dental. Now that's a statement.
