Unsightly stains from food, beverages or tobacco use can be reduced or eliminated through our whitening process. Prior to whitening, you will receive a thorough exam to ensure that whitening alone will provide you with the results you're looking for.
Periodontal, or Gum, disease is a serious infection of the tissues that hold your teeth in place and can destroy the jawbone. It is common but fairly preventable and typically caused by poor oral hygiene that allows plaque to build up on the teeth and harden, inflaming the gums which leads to tooth loss.
Scaling is a non-surgical deep cleaning around and below the gumline, all the way down to the bottom of the pocket, to remove plaque and tartar and any infection that may be developing or already present. Root Planing is the smoothing (or planing) of the roots to help the gums reattach to the teeth.

Very professional and knowledgeable staff. I never have a problem getting appointments made are being seen by the doctor even if it's an emergency case. It's more like more like family then it is a business. Very comfortable atmosphere and very friendly staff. McCracken will always be my go to when it comes to a Dentistry and Dr. Mark's work is amazing!

This is a tremendous practice in every sense of the word. The doctor (Mark) is a consultative practitioner, and is going to make me the best patient I can be. I say that in utmost seriousness. I highly recommend McCracken Family Dentistry. Dental work triggers my PTSD. Dr. Mark understands my condition and puts you at ease, talks you through what he is doing to make you feel safe and I never feel pain. I was getting a tooth impression for a crown and started having anxiety. The dental assistant reminded me to breathe and started tapping her foot to focus my attention so I could ground myself.
I will always remember her quick thinking and compassion for people with PTSD. Dr. Mark then cut back the next impression tray to better fit my mouth that helped me feel more comfortable. If you know someone who has dental fear issues I strongly recommend they become a patient at McCracken Family Dentistry.

Dr Mark Mccracken was recommended to me by a loyal patient from the State College area of Pa. She moved from the Harrisburg area but did not want to change dentist. She said he is excellent. I totally agree. Professional kind and a superb dentist.! I give him 5 stars for his service and humanitarian kindly nature. Now to to staff.professional fun and easy to speak to. My husband and I both see Dr. Kirk McCracken. He is friendly, knowledgeable, patient and very pleasant to visit with. When he couldn't find information about my last panoramic x-ray from my previous dentist, he said we would get one and write off the expense if my insurance wouldn't cover it. I also mentioned an issue with dry mouth being caused by a medication. He offered recommendations and really listened to understand what was going on. 10/10 would recommend!
