Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry that specializes in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of dental and facial irregularities. The technical term for these problems is "malocclusion, " which means "bad bite." The practice of orthodontics requires professional skill in the design, application and control of corrective appliances, such as braces, to bring teeth, lips and jaws into proper alignment and to achieve facial balance.
Typically made of high-grade stainless steel, traditional metal braces remain by far the most common type of fixed orthodontic appliances. They consist of metal bands that wrap around the molars in back, and smaller metal brackets that are cemented to the front surfaces of the other teeth. A thin, springy metal wire, running through the brackets, gently guides the teeth into a proper position.
Once we remove your braces, we will move into the retention stage of your treatment. Maintaining the results you achieved during the treatment phase is key to the success of the entire orthodontic process. Your retention phase will last for 18-24 months. However, in order to keep the teeth from shifting it is encouraged that you wear your retainers occasionally for the rest of your life.

The best orthodontist ever. I did a lot of research before getting braces. Dr. Molitor is the best overall within 50 miles considering his degree and the practice he has done. I heard it's painful to get braces, but it's not really the case. I only felt pain at the first week of my treatment, and uncomfortable at the day I got new wire, but it's manageable.

I still eat nuts and apple (cut into small pieces). My rubber bands only fell off once or twice during my entire treatment, my brackets never fell off up to now. The front desk is so nice, the doctor and nurses are very patient and welcoming. My treatment is supposed to be done by June but I have to leave the country on March. I talked to the office and they were so nice. Dr. Molitor offered another x ray right before I leave to give my new orthodontist a better view and is sending all my documents to the new orthodontist. Dr. Molitor is also going to refund me the money for retainer although I didn't ask for that. Overall great experience. Highly recommended.

Very happy with my experience! I just moved to Davis and had an orthodontic emergency; I was convinced I would need to go to sac to find a decent doctor. boy was I wrong! Dr Molitor runs a very professional very organized office. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They squeezed me in asap, and got my issue taken care of. Dr Molitor was very friendly and took his time to explain my options to me, at no point did I feel rushed or like I was being pushed in a certain direction, rather I felt like the doctor was a guide helping me make the best decision for me. Highly recommended, a gem in a small town.

Great respect for this team and Dr. Molitor - I went to see him 15 years ago and he was honest and said I did not need braces. Have been seeing him for my child and he is always patient, kind, responsive and honest about what is needed and what is not.

We have had received orthodontia care with Dr. Molitor since back in early 2000. Always polite, respectful and truly caring for each of our children receiving treatment. We're still in the middle of our youngest child's treatment and still receiving the same great care that our oldest received back in 2000!

I've been impressed with Dr. Molitor and his entire staff from the moment I walked in for a consultation. Dr. Molitor explained in great detail what options I had as I wore braces as a child but didn't wear my retainer and as a result my teeth shifted. After presenting my options there was no pressure to proceed. I felt comfortable knowing that Dr. Molitor has my best interest at hand. I've always been greeted with a smile and am so glad that I decided to go down the Invisalign route. I'm grateful for Dr. Molitor and his staff, and would highly recommend them to anyone considering orthodontic work.

I visited doctor Matthew Molitor for an initial appointment after a referral from my dentist, Howard Shempp, DDS. I expected this to be a good first consultation as I love the service provided by my general dentist, plus their office and administration seemed to be trustworthy and organized. The experience at the consultation office, however, was far from satisfactory. First, I was taken to an office room where I sat at a dentist chair and I waited for Dr. Molitor.

When he arrived, he checked my teeth for a few minutes and invited me to sit at an office desk. What was supposed to be a conversation about the possibilities of treatment for my teeth became a torture of awkward silence, where he basically kept asking if I had any question and provided generic undetailed answers. Even after I asked directly, he didn't explain the differences in the possible treatments, how long it would take, what would be necessary to ensure the success of the treatment, different kinds of braces, materials, advantages and disadvantages.

In short, I felt that I could get more information with a simple internet search than with a specialist that I paid to tell me about my teeth! The worst part: when I asked about the next steps and prices, he kept avoiding the question, until he left and brought someone from the administration to deal with it. The woman who then came to talk to me, one more time, did not answer any of my questions and told me that they would need an x-ray before anything else and that they would e-mail me a budget with everything I needed to know money-wise.

She made it sound like they would be doing it soon, but it's been almost two weeks and I haven't even heard from anyone. Even if their office were super busy, I believe they could at least have given me a time plan, but not even that. I not only feel like I have wasted my time going there, but they also charged me 90$ for the appointment and I DIDN'T EVEN GET A BUDGET.

Many times, I felt like they didn't think I was their target demographic, so they were just mimicking a consultation. I am still considering wearing braces and I will look for another orthodontist in town. I will make sure I tell my general dentist next time I go to their office for a cleaning and I am never going back to this place again.

Dr. Molitor is an excellent orthodontist. I was treated here as a patient about thirteen years ago, and wore braces for two and a half years. Recently a small piece of the retainer that Dr. Molitor gave me so long ago chipped off. Since I happened to be in Davis, I called the office to see if something could be done. When I walked in, not only did the receptionists still recognize me but Dr. Molitor too!

He was extremely warm, friendly, and professional and was happy to file off part of my retainer to fix the issue at no charge. I was impressed with this practice as a teenager and I'm still impressed with it as an adult. I highly recommend Dr. Molitor. You'll be treated like family forever.
