I have been to many dentists in my lifetime and this place is by far the best and most understanding I've been to. I had a dental emergency and they got me in right away and I was out within 2 hours! Very knowledgeable and friendly and most of all gentle. I will definitely be returning for my future dental needs.

I went to have a tooth pulled and the dental assistant and the Dr I got were wonderful. Bree was the assistants name. She was amazing I don't remember the Dr's name but he was great also.

Tried to cancel my appointment and set up a new one for a cleaning instead. Was told that they have nothing until November, which I said was fine. The receptionist then said goodbye and then hung up on me without canceling my appointment. Had to call again and another receptionist tried to hang up on me too. Terrible service.

Tried calling Gental Dental today at 9:30am n again at 2:30pm. No one to actually talk to. Either you are prompt to leave a vm or a text! Which is strange! Finally my 3rd call was made at 4:45pm, they close @ 5pm. An answering service taking calls! I asked why is that office not taking or returning calls. Are they still in business? This is a joke. I read the reviews AFTER 3 phone calls to them. Going to search for a Dentist that answers their calls.

Worst dentist EVER! The two girls upfront are UNPROFESSIONAL, so is the dentist who will call and cancel your appointment because he wants to leave for the day.

Only place locally that takes MCNA Dental insurance. Also not the safest place to get your teeth done. I have a small crack in one of my teeth. The dentist there took a look at it for like 5 seconds and just determined that it needed to be extracted. No root canal suggestion. No repair procedure. Nothing. I had to literally look all this stuff up just to see what I may or may not be going through.

I'm certaintly glad I did not let these people extract my tooth. It can be saved and it can be treated. Not surprised if this place is handling millions of lawsuits, and seeing the negative criticism from others on here, almost justifies my opinion.

Called to set up new patient appointments and was told they were booking out until April and to call around before giving my information so I didn't "waste their time" putting my info in the system. I called around and the next best I could find was September. I called Gentle Dental back and the second receptionist treated me like I was an idiot. and said they aren't taking new patients at all.

She was very rude and argumentative. Not sure what the deal is. I went there a few years ago so thinking I'm probably in the system and could actually be scheduled as a returning patient but both receptionists were so rude that I'd rather go somewhere else. I hope whatever issues they're having are resolved soon.

Been going here my entire life. Just called for an appointment and since I hadn't been there in 2 years I couldn't schedule another appointment? Never heard of this before. Excited to go to a more professional dentist office thank you gentle dental

My health is in danger because of Gentle Dental All my teeth were pulled. I was to get full dentures. The dentures didn't fit. They kept telling me I had to "adapt". I have been without teeth for 6+ months. I'm currently going to the University of Iowa Dentistry college to correct the neglect. The dental school confirmed my dentures did not fit and will document this in my complaint.

I have lost 14 pounds because I can't chew food. Gentle Dental was aware of my TMJ disorder. I was slender before and didn't need weight loss. I now wear a size 0. I am 66, disabled and ill because of Gentle Dental. This is unforgivable. The reception staff was wonderful.

Inconsiderate and all over bad. Stay away at all cost! They don't follow proper procedures and hire dentists that are shady and cut corners. Unless you like having to pay another dentist to fix what this office screwed up I highly suggest staying far, far away from this place.

This place is a joke. If I could do zero stars, I would! It is the slum of all dental offices! The assistant took xrays of my side teeth, we went back, she cleaned my teeth and in that time, she wouldn't stop talking about how people should only drink sugary foods for 30 mins a day and so on and so forth. ok whatever! The dr comes in, sits down, looks ok. peeks is the better word, at my teeth for not even 1 minute and says I need 4 root canals on my 4 front top teeth?!. let me just say, my teeth aren't perfect! BUT. the 4 teeth he's talking about have minor cavities. so small I can barely fit my fingernail tip in them. and they are a bit discolored from smoking. that's it!

They don't hurt! I try to talk to him about why he wants to do root canals instead of fillings. he says "those teeth are black and rotten and probably hurt (no they don't hurt and no they're far from black!) I do what I chose to do and if u don't like it I'm sure a different office will gladly take your free insurance and do fillings like u want" I walked out and will never go back! How is this place still going?

My daughter cried because the needle hurt her and she has never had it done before and the dentist tells her to quiet done I want to slap someone but that wouldn't be nice.

Wouldn't send my worst enemy here. "Doctors" that have had their licenses revoked, lawsuits, horrific reviews and quite possibly the rudest most unprofessional girl working the phone named Miranda. Current dentist fixing all the work they botched. This place is an embarrassment to the dentistry profession. DONT GO HERE

This place is awful and very unprofessional. I've heard the doctors are pretty decent but the receptionist are a different story. they will hang up on you if they are overwhelmed with simple questions, and if you do not know the answer that's fine, get someone who could help answer my question. Receptionist are basically the face of the company. I'm sorry but I've worked in the healthcare field along with office jobs and customer service since I was 16 years old in Iowa city so about 5+ years now, I approach anyone and everyone with respect and genuineness so the way the receptionist will speak to you or treat you here is very unsettling. on top of that, they will only see you if it's an "emergency" okay well define emergency because I've had toothaches and I definitely need a cleaning etc. but they aren't accepting new patients and they're the only place that accepts my insurance but at this point I don't even feel comfortable going here. I can only hope and pray this place doesn't get any worse.

They started prep for a crown and put in a temporary filling. Ever since I've been trying to get the procedure finished and they keep turning me away for mistakes that they made. Forgot to my file insurance claim, scheduling issues, staff issues. I make an appointment, show up and they refuse to help. Temporary fillings should only be in like five weeks max and they've had this one in my mouth three months.

It's started to hurt and the pain is escalating. People lose teeth over stuff like this and It looks awful. Unconscionable and medical neglect. I'll be filing a more formal complaint and transferring asap

I just wanted to set an appointment and the receptionist I spoke to was beyond rude. Explained I work 7 days a week and things easily slip my mind so I would need a reminder call since the appointment wouldn't be able to be scheduled til October and it's august right now. And she just turned into a whole argument about how they don't have the staff for that and how I need to be more responsible.

I understand they are low staff but other people have things in their life to that can come up. For her to tell me that if I were to miss my appointment I wouldn't be able to get scheduled again is just beyond disappointing. They are the only ones in this town that will accept my insurance so it's just really sucks they have to be rude and can't at least act understanding.

40 min wait after appointment time staff is rude and all they do is sit around and gossip infront of clients like they can't hear them

Went in today needing major work done. Absolutely petrified of the dentist. I did wait as others have stated in their reviews but they were streamlining people and the gal at the front desk whose name I did not get was professional and efficient. Danielle took the time to show me compassion and care without judgement. Her bed side manner is truly exceptional and she monitored me and truly went above and beyond.

Probably the best dental hygienist ever. The Dentist Dr. Masih was incredible. Despite the work done he took the time to ensure I remained comfortable and his bed side manner was kindly also. On checkout Tori went above and beyond also.

Garbage place with the rudest employees have infection and they failed to even call in my antibiotics. Place is trash, wouldn't take my dog to it.

I have had the worst experience at this office. I'm 7 weeks out from a double tooth extraction and have had nothing but problems. like having Dr. Moriarty start to drill without the first bit of numbing agent. in or on me. Did I mention that drill was on bone and he didn't wait til I was numb. I left the office with bone exposed. I have several sharp pieces of bone sticking out of my jaw under my tongue. now I have to wait months to get into the university of Iowa for a second opinion and fix. DO NOT GO HERE

They wanted to pull my teeth, went to another dentist and they did fillings and havent had any issues since. would not recommend.

I wish I had never gone here to begin with. First appointment I told them I had tmj and was completely ignored. Second appointment (when I had my wisdom teeth out) I mentioned it again and they tried to make me out as a liar, and attempted to turn me away after making the hour drive there. I should have been smart and left but of course I didn't. They didn't numb me nearly enough and ignored me when I was obviously in pain. Pulled an abscess tooth and didn't give me antibiotics, when I went back a few days later in immense pain they claimed there was "no infection" and they gave me antibiotics for my "peace of mind." And now a YEAR later I'm getting a bill despite them claiming at my appointments that it would all be covered by insurance.

And did I mention they didn't even remove a large part of my wisdom tooth? I have to go to a new dentist to have that removed now because it's destroying the inside of my cheek. I wouldn't recommend this dentist to a squirrel, let alone a human being. Absolutely ridiculous.

Today I had 4 teeth pulled.but I loved the atmosphere. Dr, and all of his crew were as fun/relaxing as it comes for going to the dentist. They have worked so hard during this covid bs, short handed and all to keep everyone safe.

My boyfriend waited over an hour for his appointment. When he got into his appointment (this appointment was scheduled over a month in advance) they simply rescheduled him. While this is definitely an inconveniece and an hour and a half doesn't seem like all that much, the problem is that they charged him outrageous rates. His insurance was charged and he had to pay $200.

I called the office, and the secretary said that the rate of a standard exam was $59, and I can fully confirm that $59 does not equal $200. This is absolutely insane. His next appointment is not for another month.

Dr. Moriarty and Wife are an EXCEPTIONAL TEAM! I wudnt go ANYWHERE else or to ANYONE else. They made me feel safe and comfortable. Had 10teeth pulled and Top Dentures Done all in the same day! Thank You Moriarty Team, ya'll Rock! Now my kids, grown adults lol, go to them to. Were all petrified of the 'Dentist' but this TEAM is Family!

Literally been waiting for a half hour for a scheduled appointment. Loud waiting room, rude and inconsiderate staff.

I had rapid decay in my top jaw and lower back molars, most of my bottom teeth could have been saved, and I had an infection that was swelling my face up and I just had to quit my job because of it. The doctor looked at my teeth for a few seconds, and we decided on pulling all of my teeth. I am 19 years old, so knowing this is already scary enough. Scheduled an appointment for the 9th, not knowing if I was going to be gassed or put under at all.

I ask and they tell me local anesthetic, the only oral surgeon that would accept my insurance is in Waterloo. So I really didn't have much of a choice. I had over 10 vials of the numbing agent harshly shoved into my gums, they said that the worst part was over. Warning this next part gets graphic seriously if you are queasy don't read this I asked how he was going to do it and the nurse (bless her she was amazing, all of the nurses are amazing there) told me that he was going to loosen them and then pull them. Okay, so as he begins working he uses the loosening tool maybe once and rips my teeth out, I literally have a chunk of my tooth still left in my gums right now.

Mind you, I have now over 10 open holes in my mouth right now. He tells me, "Stop screaming, you're only making it worse on yourself." So I am already freaking out because my teeth are currently being ripped out and I'm fully conscious. I was then yelled at for getting blood on him when I was literally choking on my own blood and then was forced to lay back down.

But thank god they waved my 17 dollar fee. I walked out of there bawling and wasn't able to calm down until about 9-10 at night. About 9 hours after my appointment. The nurses are amazing there, they were extremely attentive and the one told me that I had nothing to be sorry about. Even though I might have gotten blood on her.

This place is nice. For sure call before hand to schedule your appointment or you'll be in their waiting room for a while. I usually seem to get scheduled for their slow days but that perfectly fine. In get in and out in 30 minutes. My most recent visit for a check up was probably one of their busy days. I had a bit of a wait but I didn't mind because I enjoyed looking at their wall of Jaws and their other displays.

The assistant and doctor that checked my teeth were super nice. And bonus, I went home like usual with a new toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss. For me a place automatically get 3 stars if they give me a goodie bag to take home. And I just really liked the displays they had.

I have received nothing for this review nor am I sharing it for any other reason than my honest opinion of 2 dentists seen and multiple procedures after my mother's high opinion of them. I have always felt they have done a superior job and have recommended friends. I will continue seeing them. I want to add that they ensure no pain during procedures and the numbing injections are less than a pin prick. This is 100% my honest opinion

Bad teeth run in my family. I went in hoping to get some work done. The dentist accused me of being on meth, and when I said I wasn't, he pulled the hygienist aside and within ear shot spent 10 minutes telling her I was lying to them. I've never been this disrespected at a business before, and shame on the dentist for putting both me and the very sweet hygienist in a horrible position.

This company is a waste of time. I have been with them since 2001. I dont need attention very often but this last time drew the line. They jerked me around way to much. I have now been in pain for 2 weeks. i was told 1 thing on the phone got to the office and my surgery never even happened. Then i asked for help for the pain and i was told the Dr doesnt believe in pain medicine. Unbelievable. I would not recommend my worst enemy to go to this office.

I was in the waiting room waiting on a friend that was having his teeth cleaned. In that 30 minutes I heard 10 people that had been back having work done on them come up to the counter to make appointments for root canals. When my friend was done he came out and also was told he needed a root canal also. 11 people in 30 minutes needing root canals?! Is this how the owner of Gentle Dental afford his fancy home what is the odds of 11 people needing a root canal on the same day astronomical and Reckless

Went here because at the time I thought they were the only place that accepts Title 19 (they're not!) Hygienists are nice people, but the dentists are crude and treat you like an object on the table that brings in money, not a human being attached to that jaw they're yanking around. I didn't realize how awful the bedside manners and patient treatment was until I went elsewhere.

They don't even have rooms and the only thing between you and the guy next to you - no matter what your procedure is - is a shower curtain. Don't go here under any circumstances.

I went to Gentle Dental for a long time, solely because my hygienist was amazing. I didn't like that the dentists barely look in your mouth at the end of the appt. After finding out my hygienist left, I found a new dentist office.
