Maine Center For Facial Pain Established in 1984 by Dr. Robert Mitchell, The Center For Facial Pain was one of the first specialty practices in the country devoted entirely to the medical management of Orofacial Pain and Temporomandibular Disorders based on conservative, evidence-based diagnostic and treatment principles. Dr. Mitchell is no longer in private practice but continues the Center's mission from his base in Florida. His focus is now on Professional and Patient Education, as well as ongoing Clinical Research in the Orofacial Pain TMD field.
Services
Dr. Mitchell received his DDS degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1972. After two years in the US Army Dental Corps, he practiced general dentistry in Portland, Maine for 13 years. In 1984, he completed a two-year research training fellowship in orofacial pain and TM Disorders which was sponsored by the National Institutes of Health.
