Every appointment Dr. Ellsworth claimed my child had a staggering number of cavities. The first time, I believed her and had her treat the "cavities." The next year when she claimed my child, again, had the exact same number of new cavities, I didn't buy it. This didn't seem right to me so I sought a second opinion. The new dentist found 1 cavity that needed treatment. It's been several years and my child had no issues with the teeth Dr. Ellsworth was ready to drill and fill. I would never recommend this office.

My son had to have dental surgery to fix a lot of what went wrong after seeing this dentist when he was younger. She caused nothing but problems and when a cap fell off we were told it never should have been put on the tooth was fine. My honest opinion is that she plumped up the work that needed to be done to fill her pockets and the excess amounts of work caused my son to be so anxious and upset at dentists for a long time.

I heard a rumor a few years ago that a lawsuit had been filed and I sure hope somebody actually went through with it because many of the reviews on here sound eerily similar.

I have been taking my children here for 14 years. The first time was when my daughter was 2 and her tooth had broken off. The staff was wonderful, and the entire experience was stress free. In the years since I have not had a bad experience with Dr. Ellsworth, nor her staff. They are wonderful with children, kind and loving, but firm when needed. Procedures are explained in great detail and I've never had a "surprise" extra cost. Love these ladies!

They are great with my son. Would definitely recommend her to anyone with kids having a hard time seeing the dentist. She has made him very comfortable each and everytime we are here.

Please do not use Kathleen. Find a different person who is willing to explain things. And if you think she claims there is way more work to be done than it should. Have a second opinion from another dentist. I went months ago with my 4 year old. I was so upset I could not write a review because I was afraid of losing my cool. Zero stars. There are more professional people who care and will make things much better for your kids. Portland and Grandledge have better places.

I have zero idea what most are talking about and giving negative reviews. I've been coming here for years with my son and daughter and have never had a issue. The staff is amazing and it's a very personable environment. I cannot recommend this dentist enough. They always go above and beyond for my kids and I appreciate that so much! Your team rocks.

I was told I needed 3 fillings. Went to another dentist and was told I had no cavities. Also 6 months before I went to Kathleen I went to a dentist in NC for my regular cleaning and was also told I had no cavities. Another member of my family had silver diamond fluoride applied on his bottom tooth and Kathleen was telling us it was on the top. I am definitely not going again.

My team and I take a lot of time explaining the treatment to parents/caregivers. We explain each new treatment plan and show the caries intra orally as well as on the radiographs and models. Parents are informed of the child's treatment plan at each visit and they are given every opportunity to ask questions and take another look at the radiographs. Parents are allowed and encouraged to watch the entire time while we care for their child.

When parents post that their child has been "traumatized" it is unfounded as parents watch while we care for their children. We also reassure our little patients during treatment and try our very best to make them feel safe and comfortable. We have televisions above each op chair so they can watch their favorite shows. We pride ourselves on giving each child positive encouragement during their visit.

My practice uses the latest in digital radiography to detect dental caries. We also use very small sensors so the children can accommodate them in their mouth. We may get radiographic views of teeth that others may not get as we use small sensors for the children. For those parents stating that caries were treatment planned that "weren't there" is unfounded.

I have been practicing 27 years and always show the parents the cavities intra orally and an enlarged image on computer screen so they can see the caries. I hope this post reassures parents that their children are in good hands and we do our very best to treat everyone with respect and dignity when they visit the practice. My team and I love practicing dentistry and hope to see you soon! Dr. E

I would say to question any and all work that this place says needs to be done. I was told my kid needed 4 fillings, and obtained a second opinion where they found nothing at all wrong with my sons teeth. The work she did on my oldest son has been nothing but issues with the caps constantly falling off. I am reporting this office to the OIG in hopes that a CMS audit will be performed. I really hope that if you have experienced this at this office you will report to the proper authorities so this doesn't continue happening to other kids.

My 5 year old has horrible teeth. She was afraid of the dentist due to our old dentist in Grand Rapids "lying" to her about procedures she needed. However, this dentist was awesome. Not only great with mt 5 year old and her mouth full of cavities, but great with me as well. As I was a bit disturbed by the amount of work needed, despite good dental hygiene and 2 older siblings with hardly any cavities, ever.

I wasn't thrilled and had a lot of questions and they were patient and explained everything to me. And my daughter left the dentist feeling happy, and excited for her next visit! They're very good with kids.

I just went to this office with my two year old and 13-month old and they were so great with kids! The staff didn't get flustered and were able to take care of both kids quickly and efficiently. I was really dreading this appointment, but Dr. E and the staff made it really easy!
