I'VE NEVER WRITTEN A BAD REVIEW BEFORE. However, Dr. McGuire very unfortunately put an ill fitted crown on my tooth two separate times! Although he's very nice, he is clearly incompetent! I have now had to have that tooth pulled, and have had to have artificial bone put in that spot as well. Then, I'll need a fake tooth put in. This has been a long, agonizing, and extremely costly experience. I know that he didn't mean to harm me, but he did.

There are better dentists that are more affordable and don't tell you that you need so much unnecessary work done. They do have an endodontist specialist, TMJ specialist, oral surgeon, prosthodontist and general dentist. It's one stop shopping and easy to be referred to each dentist for unnecessary work. I had an inferior crown put on which eventually led to needing a root canal.

All the while I was told there was nothing wrong with the tooth even though I had pain with it. If you want to be price gouged then this is your dental office. I decided to go elsewhere and found a caring dentist who had a treatment plan that was acceptable and actually cared for his patients.

Dr Meola, the owner, is a third-generation dentist who takes his practice extremely seriously, and shows genuine care to his patients. Whenever I had a concern, he found the time to address it, even during very busy days. He's been more than fair to me in his treatment plans and cost estimates, putting me at ease. I've been his patient for over three years now, and am not going anywhere else. I've been seen by a variety of other dental practitioners and technicians, and everybody was kind, thoughtful, gentle, eager to avoid causing unnecessary pain, and understanding.

It is not every day that I would review a dentist office. But this practice is exceptional. Of course, I have huge dental anxiety. I was a little intimidated by all of their great positive energy initially (let's face it, I dont usually go to the dentist to have fun) but this practice truly does everything in their power to make the experience pleasant.

Each of the doctors has been excellent, gentle, clear communicators. From Dr. Meola to Dr. Maguire to Dr. Moroi, each is individually outstanding. The support staff is proficient and professional. I have been coming here for approximately 4 years and have since brought my family over from where we all went before. Also of note is that all 3 doctors are extremely active in "giving back" both in the local and global communities. They are just high quality people who are also highly skilled.

TERRIBLE service I've NEVER talked to such RUDE and unprofessional people. When I called the office, the person who answered the phone sounds like she doesnt know how to talk nicely. When I asked questions, she had no knowledge about whatever I asked. Luckily this is not the office I get my treatments. I am just calling for my friend. Anyway I will NEVER choose this place.

Dental Associates of New England has been an exceptional provider of my dental needs. They utilize world class technology and systems, have a great staff, and Dr. Meola is a consummate professional and perfectionist. They have provided beautiful veneers for me, and Dr. Meola has successfully solved a complex crown issue. He is honest, transparent and talented. I highly recommend them!

A Very. Rotten. Experience. I'm a long-term sufferer of TMJ/Grinding, and despite wearing a nightguard for over 20 years now, I wanted to see if there were any new fangled options I had not yet heard about. The TMJ Consultation costs $500, and I was told that insurance rarely covers it. Fine. I'll pay for someone's expertise. I had an appointment at 2:00 PM on a Monday, and I called at 1:30 PM to verify that they were running on time.

They said absolutely, that the dentist that I would be seeing would be returning from a lunch break at that time, so no delays would be expected, which is good to know as I am stepping out of work for this. So I arrive at the office 20 minutes before my 2 PM appointment for the paperwork, the questionnaires on my TMJ issues and history. I finish the paperwork before my appointment time, so I wait patiently in the waiting room. 2:00 PM comes and goes, until at 2:20 PM, someone brings me into an exam room, puts me in a chair, and throws on my bib. Okay.

Wait in the chair ignored for another 10 minutes. At this time, for my $500 appointment (which I would imagine would be 30 minutes, no longer than 1 hour), is already running 30 minutes behind schedule, and no one is giving me an update, or apologizing for any delays, or letting me know what the situation is. So I step back outside to the desk, with my bib, and ask the receptionist for an update, because this appointment is already 30 minutes behind schedule, and nobody seemed to notice.

I shared with her that I had called 30 minute prior to my appointment to see if things were still on time, and I was told they were. The receptionist told me that she was not the one who told me that, so she doesn't know what the status update is, and she doesn't know where the dentist is, but he "might be with another patient." So now I'm getting the runaround, and for $500 cash, I'm really not content that my time is being disrespected.

Would an attorney charging $500 per hour keep a client waiting in a waiting room with no update? Or would a massage therapist for $150 an hour keep someone waiting 30 minutes? I actually don't think so. So I took my bib off, told the receptionist I was leaving and that I did not want to reschedule. For $500 for a consult, why would you treat anyone that way?

And if you are running late, than don't fail to communicate that, and fail to apologize, and just fail all the way around. I don't want someone's hands in my mouth, manipulating my jaw, if he does not respect his patients' time.

I have always been extremely anxious about the dentist office. In my childhood, procedures were done without anesthesia. As an adult, I was often told I did not need anesthesia or I was not given enough Novocain. So, I suffered a lot and I have many bad memories from different dental offices. In addition to that, later in my life, I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia which makes any pain significantly worse.

A touch or vibration is already perceived as pain - not to mention real pain and referred pain. At that time, even dental cleaning became "endless torture" - excruciating pain hardly to be endured. I was so stressed that I would not sleep before and after any dental procedure. When I found Dr. Maguire, I realized that dental experience can be different. Dr. Maguire is a great dentist: He is not only highly knowledgeable, skilled and meticulous but he is also understanding, kind and patient. Dr. Maguire makes sure I am relaxed (as much as I can be at the dentist) and he does excellent dental work. I trust Dr. Maguire. I recommend Dr. Maguire to any patient who needs great dental care but especially to all patients with previous bad dental experience.

Dr. Meola and his staff are very nice and welcoming. The receptionists were helpful, friendly, and upbeat. I wish I could remember the name of the person I had my ZOOM whitening consultation with. She was extremely knowledgeable, articulate, and professional. The ZOOM whitening process went very well and I am very happy with my results! I highly recommend going to see John Meola and his staff.

I've been going to Dental Associates of New England for several years now after having a bad experience at another Boston dental office and I continue to be impressed with their expertise, service and the overall experience I have every time I go in. I know I can trust Dr. Maguire's opinion and that he is keeping my teeth's best interest at heart when he makes a decision or recommendation. Additionally, I am usually very anxious when I go to the dentist, and Dr. Maguire and the rest of the staff takes the time to ask me if I'm doing okay and make sure I am as comfortable as possible. Plus, they send you text reminders for your appointment -- super convenient/helpful. If you're new to Boston or looking for a new dentist, I would recommend this office to anyone!

Nice place but I had to go somewhere else for good dentistry. All I had were problems especially not needing the work they said I did after seeking a second opinion from another dentist. Guess someone has to pay for their fancy office on Boylston street "beware"

Dr. Meola and and his entire staff are exceptional. They are very attentive, responsive, polite, kind and do great work! Dr. Papadopoulos and his assistant Dina are outstanding. They take the time to explain procedures throughly, answer all questions and are genuinely kind and compassionate. They exceeded my expectations and I would highly recommend this staff for any dental procedure. I look forward to many years of exceptional dental service with them!

When my long-time dentist retired, I didn't know what to do. Found this place via recommendation from a friend and am so glad! Gorgeous office in a super convenient location. Right on Boylston across from Copley Square, upstairs from CVS. Marie is the hygienist I request all the time and she is so patient and kind. Dr. Maguire is excellent as well. Takes his time explaining things and is gentle. I look forward to going here for many years to come.

I've been a patient of Dr Maguire's for about 4 years and I couldn't be more satisfied. I've had a lot done--from cleanings to minor fillings to major fillings to chip repairs to root canals--and Dr Maguire and staff have always been great. They are cognizant that I'm a bit petrified of stuff being drilled in my mouth, so Dr Maguire continually checks in with me to ensure I'm ok as they're working. I've had to call after hours for a semi-emergency and he talked me through it.

The office staff are also very friendly and helpful. I didn't want to write this review because I don't want the secret to get out and have the office get busier, but this really is an excellent dental practice!

Alright guys. this place sells itself on the way it looks and the "celebrities" that come. Even my little assistant that was helping me clean my teeth, was like "isn't this a nice place?" umm. am i suppose to say its not? how awkward is that? Yeah i give you props for the awesome designer who came and designed this place. but the practice is just okay. i switched to a different dentist now and after a couple of calls from here, and me telling them they need.remove me because i've switched, did they actually remove me *crosses fingers they wont call back* i came here based on yelp but it's not like AMAZING as everyone makes it out to be. i think they are big supporters of invisalign, since they kinda pushed it, but then backed themselves by saying "we're not making you, just want you to think about it and come back for a consultation" and if you have to say it twice.that means you might just be pushing it.

I have been scared of the dentist all my life. I have been a patient here for about 3 years and I have to say I am very pleased. I had two wisdom teeth pulled by Dr. Maguire he did a great job. The place looks marvelous and Marie the hygienist gave me the most gentle deep cleaning I ever had. I would recommend them for happy teeth.

I used to hate the dentist. Orthodontists. Anyone who puts me in a chair and throws tools into my mouth while talking to me and asking me questions as if I can respond with a suction device and cotton all up in my mouth.normally goes into the "Unlike" category. Growing up with braces, I'm 100% sure you're conditioned to a) cut your pizza into tiny pieces, lest it get stuck in every crack and crevice of your teeth before you talk to your 8th grade crush and b) hate dentists.

I arrived at the fancy pants office (seriously, everything is so pristine, with clean lines and modern design, you think you're at the offices of McNamara/Troy a la Nip/Tuck) for a cleaning, and got Vy, a wonderful hygienist, and Dr. Meola. You'll spot Dr. Meola immediately by his easy mannerisms and head full of wish-you-had-it-wavy head of hair.

The cleaning went well, was easy and painless, and I was scheduled for a follow-up for a filling (damn you, love for sugary sweets! I shake my fist at you) with Dr. Maguire. Again, easiest and most painless filling I've ever had. And he took the time to polish/shave down a filling that hadn't been done perfectly by my previous dentist. Everyone here is really great about explaining every procedure, and making sure your teeth remain a healthy investment well into your old days. Hey, you may be wrinkly, but your teeth will still be sparklin' and chewing some STEAK. It's rare to find both high quality work and the pretty package all in one. Perfectionist dentists/periodontists/orthodontists/hygienists with (surprisingly) amazing people skills.all in an office with the newest technologies and equipment. BAM. Easily 5 stars.

Too many people choose they're dentist by geographical convenience. Do you go to supper cuts to get a 8 dollar hair cut? No, and your hair will actually grow back. Don't be that guy at the chain store dental chop shop in a strip mall, in a chair next to the lady getting her glasses in under a hour. My Grandfather always told me when it come to your teeth or your shoes, always get the best. Dr. Meola and the staff at the dental Associates are hands down the best.

Their office has the newest technology, and they absolutely 100% of the time do right by their patients. They don't cut corners, plus Dr. Meola is like the Jedi master of dental procedures. Short of Yoda with a tiny light saber, you couldn't be in better hands. You can throw caution to the wind next time your looking for "bargain" on some junk on Craigslist, but not with your teeth sir, there is a difference in where you go. But if your researching your dentist here on Yelp you already probably knew that. I'm proud of you buddy now stop stalling and get your appointment already.

I needed some cosmetic work done on my front teeth. Dental Associates had come highly recommended to me by a friend, and they are also right downtown on Boylston St., so convenient to me at the time. Now, after my wonderful experience there, I still come for appointments even though I live 50 miles away! There is not one person that works in the office that I wouldn't praise.

I never felt like anyone was trying to sell me anything, I felt that they were completely honest with me, and thoroughly went over all my options, including costs, benefits, and potential complications. I worked mainly with Dr. Meola, and I can't say enough about him. He runs the practice and it's apparent that he puts his heart and soul into his work.

He and his staff are kind and compassionate, as well as good at what they do. He's only available certain days of the week, but I never had to wait to get an appointment, and they were always totally flexible with my schedule. If you are one of those people that freak out about going to the dentist then this place is for you. They will do everything they can to make you comfortable, avoid pain, and to have an enjoyable experience, including installing brand new massage chairs into all the patient exam rooms! The only thing I can think of that could have made for a better experience would be if they had coat/purse hooks in the bathroom! (So important for women :) )

On a Friday night in May 2010 I stumbled and fell and badly fractured and dislocated my two formerly perfect front teeth. I was devastated and inconsolable. However, at 11:30 that Friday night I called the emergency number of Dental Associates and the dentist on call, Dr. Christopher Maguire, called me back in five minutes. He saw me the next morning at the Brookline office--on a saturday-- and spent over two hours providing me not only with emergency treatment, but with compassion and concern.

I had only been a patient of this practice for two weeks, but I was treated like a family member. From Janice and Rita in the front office who have been consistently concerned and thoughtful, to wonderful Grace who took such care in fitting my temporaries, to Dr. Shomali and Dr. Meola, whose expertise and calm instills confidence in the most traumatized patient, I felt I could not be in better hands.

I am a master's prepared registered nurse. I know good clinical care when I see it, but this practice is more than that--it is also full of compassion, concern and good humor--and you never know when you will suddenly need a highly skilled multi-specialty practice. The dentists are all from the top schools in the country and can handle any problem or cosmetic procedure.

Unlike another reviewer who praise this practice for major dental work, but who said "if you just need a checkup maybe go somewhere more mundane", I completely disagree. Until that friday night, I had only needed "mundane" teeth cleaning and a couple fillings my entire life, however, a stumble and fall can change things in an instant. I highly recommend this practice for both cosmetic and general dentistry.

I also had a no-show appointment once, but these guys do incredibly good work - there's a reason the Celtics and Miss Massachusetts endorse them. Quick, as painless as dentistry can be, and most important, high quality. If you just need a checkup, maybe go somewhere more mundane, but for any kind of serious construction project, I'll put up with rock star attendance to get rock star skillz (especially at just-above average prices).
