Dr. Lane received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of California, San Francisco in 1983. He completed additional advanced training and subsequently practiced dentistry for ten years in San Francisco's financial district.
He opened his practice in Petaluma in 1995. Patients consistently travel from surrounding counties to see him, and his patients include many specialty dentists and other dental professionals.

Though his preteen years and some of his teen years were spent in the Midwest, Dr. Rick Lane has spent most of his life in California. Initially attracted to the Sonoma area for the beautiful cycling opportunities, he raised his son and daughter here and loves the people, the weather, and the physical beauty of the area.
During your first visit to Dr. Lane's office, he and his staff want you to feel incredibly comfortable and will do everything in their power to ensure that is the case. Dr. Lane and his team will take the time to get to know you, in order to tailor your treatment to best meet your specific needs. When you first enter the office, you will be greeted by our receptionist.
Dental treatment is an excellent investment in your well being. To help you get the care you need, our office offers a variety of options to help you pay for your treatment. For payment, we accept cash, check, or major credit card including MasterCard, Visa, and Discover. If you have dental insurance, we accept all insurance plans and will file your claim for you.
I am real happy with the dental work you did for me. I felt very comfortable in your office, the scheduling was convenient, and the results were fantastic. You're the first dentist in my life that really listened to me to find out what I wanted. This was the best money I ever spent. I have been a patient of Dr. Lane's for a good many years.

We have been going to Rick since he took over the business from Dr. A. He is down to earth, and somewhat conservative in his dental work and repairs. He gives you all options from extravagant to on the cheap. Gives you all the pros and cons, and lets you decide what you want to do. His staff is friendly and the techs have always done us good with our teeth cleaning. I would recommend him in a heart beat. Thank you Rick Lane.

I couldn't be more pleased with everything about Dr. Lane's dental office. Everyone who works there is so pleasant and accommodating. Dr. Lane himself is extremely patient, thorough, and does not rush you into making any decisions before you are completely ready. He explains everything with great detail, and makes sure you thoroughly understand every aspect of the procedure before he begins anything. i've been to many dentists in the past 50+ years, and have definitely had my share of not so professional work done on my teeth.
The procedure I chose to have performed at Dr. Lane's office was the largest financial commitment I have ever made re: my teeth, so I wanted to make sure I was making the best decision possible. I could not be more pleased with the results! They have far exceeded my expectations, and I would highly recommend Dr. Lane to anyone seeking excellent, state of the art dental work.

Dr. Lane did beautiful on my front teeth. He came highly recommended by my periodontist in SF so I had confidence in him even before I arrived but he exceeded my expectations! He is so calm, pleasant & competent. His office is clean & beautiful & his staff is great. I'm VERY picky about my dental work & am happy to recommend Dr. Lane to all my friends & family without any reservations.

I have always been nervous about going to the dentist, so much so that I put it off for many years. I finally made an appointment with Dr. Lane and everyone in the office made me feel comfortable from the very start. I needed to have some fillings replaced and I had no idea what I was in for. They don't use the typical bright lights that swoop down over your face, Dr. Lane has a light on his glasses, so I wasn't blinded the whole time.
And to make me more comfortable while the work was being done, I was given earphones and these amazing glasses to watch my selection of a Jimi Hendrix rockumentary - the glasses were like a mini movie theater and I was totally distracted from what was really going on in my mouth. I never thought I could have such a positive experience at the dentist. Thank you, Dr. Lane & his amazing staff!

My family has been going to Rick Lane for many years and he has always given us great service. I had been going to another local dentist that did not give care on the level expected and the office staff was rude. I knew Rick socially but was hesitant to go to him at first. What if someone you know and like as a person turns out to be a stinky dentist, right?
Well I decided to try him out and I have no regrets and no intention to switch dentists again. He has saved me from losing a couple of teeth and from a lot of pain. I have had to call for help with a painful tooth when they are closed and he has always been able to take care of me. And everyone that works there is always friendly and makes going to the dentist as pleasurable as possible. I highly recommend Rick Lane if you need a dentist - hands down the best!

My favorite trip to the dentist: I had a great experience with Dr. Lane! This office feels cheerful and relaxing, with large windows that open up the space. Dr. Lane's chair-side manner is terrific. You can tell he and his staff enjoy what they do, which made me comfortable and glad to be there. My appointment was seen on time, and the paperwork was easy and straightforward. I highly recommend Dr. Lane to anyone looking for a new dentist. I'll definitely be back!
