I've been terrified of the dentist my entire life. Every time I've gone I've felt some sort of pain because of not being all the way numb. I let Dr. Chmiel know this beforehand, and he was very understanding and worked with me every step of the way. I had a tooth extracted at my first visit with him and it could not have went any smoother.
When wisdom teeth (or third molars) are blocked or unable to erupt into a normal position, they are termed 'impacted.' These teeth may grow sideways, partially erupt through gums or remain fully covered by bone and gum tissue. Many problems can occur with these partially or fully impacted teeth as they try to erupt, but are unable to do so.
You will always be given local anesthesia for your oral surgery, but you may choose other anesthesia options as a supplement if your medical history allows. Each choice requires different preparation on your part. For your safety, our oral surgeon believes it is important that you read and follow the instructions carefully.

I called to make an appointment for my husband to get a tooth pulled. The receptionist was so rude that we decided to go somewhere else. It was a shame that was the service on the phone and we didn't even get to see what the practice was about. Due to the receptionist answering the phone and be rude, we are going somewhere else.

Dr. Chmiel and Staff were fantastic from the first to the last visit. They always returned our calls and answered all of our questions no matter how small. I recommend them to anyone looking and not sure where to go. Friendly and caring made a scary time manageable.

Had a tooth that needed to be pulled after a failed root canal. The staff did a great job helping me get a consultation quickly and the tooth removed a few days after. Dr. Chmiel was very understanding about me being nervous. He talked me through the process and really helped me feel comfortable during the procedure. Staff was top notch, friendly, informative, and professional. They helped make a painful process as pleasant as one could hope for.

Do not go here under any circumstances, I was recommended to go here by my dentist to have my wisdom teeth taken out. The worst experience ever, I woke up half way through the procedure after having them knock me out because I didn't want to wake up. I felt the entire procedure, I was looking right into Dr Chimel's eyes and all he kept saying is keep breathing.

I felt all the pain of the procedure. After it was done the Dr said, why didn't you say something to us. Well maybe because I have 4 hands in my month and drills. I couldn't talk, they offered no sense of remorse and I will be reporting them to the NYS dentistry board. There is no reason that 30 mins afterwards I felt no side affects of the anthesia and was able to walk out of there myself.

They took me out the back door hide me because of there complete screw up and failure. Worst decision of my life to go here, then the Dr blamed it on my weight, for having 30 years of experience that is the worst excuse I've ever heard. Please go anywhere else but here, worst experience of my life and I would never recommend.

All around good experience. I hate any type of dentistry work like the next guy but Amherst Oral Surgery made it a painless experience. I would highly recommend to anyone who needs any type of oral surgery.
