Founded in 1932, the Children's Dental Health Clinic is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that provides quality dental care and oral health education to disadvantaged children and young adults, ages 0-21, serving the greater Long Beach and South Bay communities. We are the safety-net resource and dental home for all-inclusive, multi-specialty dental services that can meet all of a child's treatment needs "under one roof."
During the dire economic times of the 1930s, a dental surveyor with Long Beach Schools, Dr. Robert Anderson, reported an increasing prevalence of dental disease in our community's school children. He was moved to provide accessible dental care to needy children; and in 1932, this dream became a reality when Dr. Anderson secured a trailer, converted it into a small dental clinic, and made his way from school to school.
The Children's Dental Health Clinic is a multi-specialty, all inclusive, safety-net dental home to more than 6,500 children and young adults, from birth through age 21. We are uniquely able to serve those with special needs and complex medical considerations because of our partnerships, specialties, integrated hospital-based care, and because of the supporters who make our services possible for children who do not have access to the dental care they need.
The CDHC Board of Directors are exemplary individuals with a variety of professional backgrounds and expertise. They bring with them a strong sense of service to our community through the CDHC mission. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, where donations help provide multi-specialty dental services to children and young adults of our community. On Tuesday February 15th both my daughters had their routine dental check up at 7:30am as usual Amy had given us our courtesy call the day before to confirm our appointment and had indicated the usual routine prior to entering which was call when in the parking lot to check in(which I did) and were cleared to enter building, once inside we got to the front door for our temp check and a very rude assistant by the name of Cinthia opened the door and didn't even ask before she just said yes very rudely and I was like hi I have an appointment for Louna And Gethsemane and she said did you call and check in I was like yes and she said let check give me a moment and had me wait 5 minutes while she chatted with another employee speaking about how she has to stay up front because they're short on staff, mind you it's now 7:40 and I still have not gotten my temp check so finally she checks my temp and my children temp but I have never in the 3yrs I have been to this clinic found a more unprofessional employee and it's very disappointing as I love this place always have had pleasant experiences until now and honestly it's very disappointing as I love Amy and Liz they're soo nice and respectful I really hope not to encounter this unprofessional employee again.

Omg!? Where do I even start! This place is sooooooooo UNPROFESSIONAL! It's literally Paola. She's extremely lazy and negligent. She lacks empathy and even when she's clearly done a disservice, she has a matter of fact attitude about it! She doesn't follow through and she should NOT be in charge of any patients accounts. Like ever.

In a nutshell she prolonged a procedure appt for over a year each time claiming that she didn't have proper documentation or clearance. So sad because she never took any steps as a professional to ensure her patients receive the care the need. It's heartbreaking as a parent to experience this.

I am an employee of this medical system, and I would not bring my child here again. First, we adopted my child and therefore she gets Medi-cal. I got a call from the office THE DAY BEFORE, and the receptionist told me that my daughter no longer has Medi-cal. I said, "Why?", and there was silence on the other line. I told her that yes, indeed she still has medi-cal and the number changed when we adopted her.

Instead of saying, "I don't see that she has medi-cal, did something change?", she used her "Jump to Conclusions" mat and made a blanket statement. Way to investigate. Then, I was told that a parent needed to bring her. She's 2.5 years old. Did she think she was going to walk? Then, I got there early to our 7:10am appointment to fill out paperwork.

Finally at 7:30 I said, when do the dentists start seeing patients? I know the hygienists were already there drinking their coffee, I heard them in the back. The receptionist stated that the doctors were just getting there. I asked why my appointment was at 7:10 and she said so we could fill out the paperwork before the appointment. REALLY. So it normally takes people 25 minutes to fill out paperwork?

My wife and I have master's degrees. Pretty sure it took us all of 7 minutes, if that. So in the meantime, we both have lost a half hour of work. I told the receptionist that this was not good customer service, and I know we strive for patient/family centered care because I WORK FOR THIS COMPANY! She said nothing to me as I looked her in the eyes and told her this was unacceptable.

We walked out at 7:35. Luckily we have other options, but for people that are dependent on medi-cal, this office is not compassionate, wastes people's time, and treats people like garbage. Sad.

I wouldn't even give them a one star. Super rude front desk personnel! They think they have the right to demand rather then inform you.

This is a great clinic with wonderful doctors, nurses and staff. They all were very friendly and answered all of our questions. It was my daughters first real dental exam (with x-rays) and she was nervous. But Dr. Lee and the staff were very patient with her, showed her all the tools and when she got scared they didn't use the tools and found other creative ways to still examine her teeth.

They also remained patient with her during this. Dr. Lee seems to really understand children and find ways to get them comfortable. My daughter left talking about it with a smile. Thank you CDHC for a great experience and helping my daughter feel more comfortable with dentist and having a greater enthusiasm for her dental care.

Let's start of with the inconvenient hours they offer for kids. It would be on school hours they only open. They will keep you waiting for hours but the day your 5 min late they want to scold you. I have been bringing my kids here since they were born since I came here as a child. As a teen I was scheduled to have my wisdom teeth removed, the personal did not numb me well enough so the whole time I felt the digging and pulling.

I decided not to proceed with the other 3 teeth. That happened over 10 years ago but I am still traumatized by the horrible experience. Their appointments are scheduled 6 month is advance so if your having any emergency you still need to wait to be seen. Their staff is a hit and miss, doctors and some of the assistants are friendly.

In regards to this dentistry.it is less than professional with extreme complications created with wait and wonder regarding the necessity of dental surgery for children suffering from the autism spectrum disorder. As a mother of children with special needs; I would not expect to find a waiting time of several months/ leading to completely ignoring the process with not taking calls. Representatives have hung up on me. 16.5 years old is the time limit we have to go to Los Angeles Children's Hospital.

This dental office is less than professional and does not adhere to non-discrimination laws. This office, further, causes hardship in the lives of children suffering already and the parents whom suffer with them/for them. Shame on tax dollars spent on this inept care.

Felt like I was in a WIC office. The way the dentist was trying to school me on what to feed and give my 3 y/o. Thought they would clean his teeth but instead she made him brush his own teeth & just looked at them. She also stated my THREE YEAR OLD needs to learn how to brush his teeth! He is three! The dental assistant had more respect than her! Damn shame! WASTE OF MONEY & TIME!

Other dentists would not see my son because he has autism. They would clean his teeth and tell you what work he needed by it refused to do any work because he might move. Finally a dentist Dr Fishman referred me to Children's denatal clinic. They see him and provide appropriate sedation when needed. They are great. The first time he saw them he had a long list of items to do because of the other dentists not providing Care. Only problem is difficulty obtaining appointments because they are unique.

This is a great dental clinic with great dentists, hygienists, and dental assistants. BUT scheduling is a B----! You have to schedule way in advance of about 3 months to be seen! Then if you need to see an orthodontist, you'd have to schedule only on the days they are available, which is 3 days in a week, which most likely are booked for a few months.

The great thing about this facility is that it is located next to the hospital and in the same building as the medical clinic. Which means that if you have a severe anaphylactic reaction to anesthesia, the hospital or medical clinic is easily accessible. But then again, the dental clinic itself should always have a crash cart with an ambu bag and tracheostomy set just in case. That's the paranoid me.

I do not normally like clinics, but this was different. My daughter absolutely loved the 2 times she has been here now. The doctor's "dentists" were very friendly. They interacted with my daughter and she left this dentist office smiling TWICE which she NEVER does. I'm happy so far to call this place her dentist office. : the endodontist that she saw was fantastic also. The nurse or assistant even got my daughter to do her first xrays on her own. So happy this place exists.
