Your general dentist has determined that your gums require special care, and has referred you to a periodontist. Periodontists are dentists who specialize in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of gum disease. By referring you to a periodontist, your dentist is showing a strong commitment to optimal dental care.
In the late 1500's, author William Shakespeare and others spoke and wrote about getting long in the tooth as the gums recede as you age. Not so long ago, it was rare for an older person to go to bed without taking out his or her dentures. However, edentulism (toothlessness) has been declining in this country since the 1950s.
A recent article published in the January issue of The Journal of Dental Research, by noted clinicians W.V. Giannobile and N.P. Lang, addressed this important decision for and by the patient. Dental implants have become an important treatment for the replacement of teeth lost due to disease, injury, or congenital tooth agenesis.

I was a patient with Dr. Bleier for gum issue during COVID. Dr. Bleier's treatment was very efficient and I loved his technique. But the front desk lady Nancy was absolutely rude and unprofessional but not answering my phone and refusing to schedule me. I missed 2 appointment not willingly. First time I told her in the phone call that I was traveling, and she said it was fine to see the doctor.

So I drove 1 hour (I live in Ithaca) down to his office and when someone was checking me in I told them again I was traveling and that person said I wasn't allowed to come in (I said I called and that person said it's fine, but the person said they are sorry but can't let me in). I had to drive back for 1 hour. Second time my roommate was tested positive for COVID and I called immediately the office to let them know I need to be quarantined for 2 weeks and they said I could schedule later.

After I got cleared and I got vaccines, (I know Dr. Bleier with older age he wants to make sure patients are careful and I wanted to create a safe environment for the doctor) I called them again and the front desk lady Nancy won't schedule me again because I "cancelled" 2 of my appointment. I'm an Asian college student and I feel very offended and discriminated. I tried to call them again, but the front desk lady Nancy just pretended she couldn't hear me and hang up. I now can't connect to their office anymore.

We called to make a new patient appointment last week and had to reschedule because of a family emergency; the woman on the phone, Linda, was extremely rude and disrespectful. I would love to recommend this as a 5 star office, but we had an awful experience before even entering the doors.

I have been with Doctor Bleier since 2006, & he is the "best". He was able to save everyone of my teeth. I tried to get a follow up appointment on a # that was on my answering machine, but, I called five times, & no answer. I am sure Linda will get a hold of me some time. Hopefully she will read Doctor Blair's texts. Thank you

I was a patient of Dr. Bleier, never happy with staff, especially office manager, .Never met anybody with such a negative disposition. It was like pulling teeth to get any information from her and receptionist, especially asking about which insurance they accept. Any other office I've been a patient of, the staff took their time explaining things, not this one.

She was not very sociable, and also not very helpful and she is an office manager. She had a certain attitude about her, which made it very hard to ask her anything and not cheerful at all. Loved Brenda, she was professional and always in a good mood. Then Dr. Bleier tells me he might have to drop me as a patient, after I followed all his orders. He preformed gum surgery, due to bone loss and recurring infection. Sent me for 3 root canals.

Still having an issue with infection. Told me before dropping me as a patient, that he would open flap, on my gum by front tooth and clean it out, no charge. Well, then he calls me and tells me to go to an oral surgeon, that I needed an Apicoectomy on my front tooth( which is a reverse root canal). Why would I need that when I've had a root canal there already. I'm very upset, I spent a lot of money there. That's very unprofessional, I believe.

He didn't want to spend anymore time with me. He should have said he didn't know what the heck he was doing. Tired of these Drs. that can't finish what they started.

The staff became standoffish and somewhat rude when I called to reschedule an appointment, acting like I was putting them out to do two minutes of work in their scheduling program. They said they would call me back to schedule, claiming they needed to check with the doctor first for some reason, but never did. They obviously have no interest in keeping patients. I should have read the reviews before attempting to become one. Totally unprofessional.

I have been a patient of Dr. Larry Bleier for nearly twenty five years. Mine was a rather serious and complicated case which, over the years resulted in a number of surgeries and close ongoing care. I must say that, without Dr. Bleier's interventions and good work, I would have likely lost my teeth and my full bridge. All along the path of intervention and care, this skilled professional did, in my view, first class work with every surgery and each necessary visit.

I know that many periodontists seek to move patients quickly to implants, which are expensive, though fairly profitable for the the dental office. However, Dr. Bleier, in my case and with others, puts a priority on saving teeth. He is exceptional at oral surgery and keeps up to date on the most recent validated research in periodontal care. His preparatory background is impressive and he takes the time to let you know what he is doing and the rationale for his actions.

Not all health care professionals seem to do the same. Over the years of being his patient, I have found his office to be professional, inviting and focused on the my needs. Hygienists who I have experienced at the office over the years have always been professional and personable. They are held to high standards and learn much more through their experience there. LInda, the office manager, in my view, is the positive cohesive force that keeps the professionalism on track and the office running smoothly.

A great person. Lisa, at the front desk, is professional and welcoming each and every time. I read the previous review with some dismay, as my experiences were so very different and positive. I highly recommend Dr. Bleier and his office to anyone in need of quality periodontal care.

The best part of my this practice were the hygienists. They showed passion in their work and did a decent job. Outside of that I was very disappointed in my experience with Dr Bleier! He was in my network which is what prompted me to use him. In the end of the day the charges including $120 to show me how to brush my teeth, $480 for antibiotic powder etc I could have went to someone outside of my network for the same price.

I was told the hygienist would work on my teeth one visit and Dr Bleier would alternate every other week. This did not happen. The first 4 visits I never saw the Dr? My 5th visit was with Dr Bleier. He did almost no work and spent the majority of our time telling my how dentists over charge for unnessasary work. After that visit I decided to call the office to let them know I am done with my treatment.

This resulted in a full court press to have me come back. Dr Bleier got on the phone and did his best to persuade me to come back in. He said most people need to come back several times for best results. I reminded him I was there 5 times. He seemed to have no clue? He said he wanted to do a scaling himself and walk me through my teeth to show me what's going on.

Since he seemed to feel it was so important I agreed to return. When I did this time the desk woman asked me to pay upfront vs after the visit? The Dr spent 15 minutes selling me on further things I can have done. He did no scaling whatsoever? Once I told him I am not interested in further treatments the visit was over.fifteen minutes. It was quite obvious why they had me pay in advance!

I could have told him off, gotten mad for wasting my time and money. I chose to leave without doing so and write my honest review. I only wish there were other reviews I could have read prior to choosing his office. I am sure there are much worse out their. However I am positive there are many, many that are much better! If I had this to do over 100% I would go elsewhere!
